Everybody knows supercoach Wayne Bennett is massive on respect and players toeing the line so Bennett is certain to have his hands full with Bird once he reluctantly shifts north.

Yes, Broncos fans, take it as fact Bird’s old man was still talking with Sharks officials as late as this week about pulling out of his $4 million, four-year deal.

When Chris Heighington was about to bring up his 300th NRL game earlier this season, there was a huge turnout after the club’s captain’s run.

It was a sunny afternoon, a few of Heighno’s former Wests Tigers teammates came to Shark Park, and club legend Andrew Ettingshausen presented the special jersey.

The only star who wasn’t sighted was Bird.

Then Luke Lewis brought up his 300th game, there was a lovely lunch at the leagues club the day before and Mick Ennis was making a stirring speech to the players.

The only star who wasn’t sighted was Bird.

Then on Tuesday night, a special dinner was held at the flashy Summer Sault for Paul Gallen, who bleeds black, white and blue and has taken a lot of time to give Bird guidance.

Laurie Daley turned up. So did “ET”. So did most of the players. But no Bird.

It is not the crime of the century. Bird is a loveable character and gun player any club would have. But someone should have got in his ear and told him to make an effort for the milestones. It’s a respect thing and something Bennett is big on.

Could be a million reasons why he didn't attend those events but the stank is real and it smells like another Lichaa situation.

The Tele has really hooked onto its story of the week. They even got others to write it instead of Sloth and to a lesser extent, Riccio. The story behind the story is when you get to another story which leads to two other stories then all conglomerate into one.

YOU have to wonder how Jack Bird will fit into Wayne’s world?

Once again.

I dont get the Bird hate.

The guy has smashed merkins whilst wearing our jumper.

He did the job whilst busted in the GF.

Hes had some ordinary moments this year but f**k me.....Townsend fifita holmes are some who are heading the list of non-impactors.

And Beale. Bird with one arm does more damage.

Im f**king rapt the bloke wants to be at suncorp with the team.
Theres NOTHING negative about that.
Staying in sydney to play x-box...yep.

He will be back and he will make a mark in september.

Without doubt.

Agree with all sentiments about what he did for us in the GF, what he has done for us last year.

But this year he has been well below average. How he was selected in Origin was an insult to in form players.

I'm sorry but i can't agree with the whole being rapt at him wanting to be up at suncorp with 'the team'.

Can't attend any of the boys 300th celebrations let alone Gal's, who has a history of spending time helping this young bloke out... but wants to head over the border to uncle Waynes World when injured, get a nice look at what he's going to be surrounded by next year eh.

Do that on your own time Jack. Stick to the xbox at home.

I can't remember which game it was earlier this year but still remember the tv camera's showing the dressing room before running out.
The whole team was in a huddle except one twerp, you guessed it Bird.
Someone obviously chipped him and he got up and moved to join in just as it broke up.

Great look broadcast all over Australia, Not!

Wow - NO mention of Jack Bird. Has he disappeared off the planet?!? Is he being disciplined? If so, would love to see him named for the Jets!
