At the opposite end of the scale to my Jarrod Croker post, where does Jamie Lyon rank in centers who have played the game? It's a shame he hasn't played Origin for so long as its probably cost him a spot as an all time great (that it would worry him in the slighest).

I've never seen a guy score or set up a try from a basic 2 on 2 with no room to move more then him. To make it even more amazing he isnt particuarly big or fast and never has been.

He effectivley turned David Williams and William Hopoate into Rep Players by making them look like capable first graders, this in itself speaks volumes about his talent.

There has to be a question mark over him for the time he spent in England (admittedly dominating year after year) and his avoidance of State of Origin when NSW could really have used his leadership. Still along with Hodges he's consistently been up there with the best centres to have played over the last 10 years.

Why on Earth would there be a question mark over him for the time he spent in England??

He's been nothing but a class above most for the best part of a decade no matter who the opposition and his time in England does nothing to change or diminish that.

He's everything Jarrod Croker isn't. Representative class, respected, defensively solid, a great captain and actually knows what he is doing.

Because he spent his prime years playing in a reserve grade comp.

EDIT I see now it was only 2 seasons. Fair enough, I thought it was longer than that

The best centre since he started playing the game . . . may have been times others have reached out for his mantle but never surpassed

Probably has the most complete career of any player
Has won 2 nrl premierships (one as captain)
Won an origin series
Won an international series
Won the English super league premiership
Man of steel in England
Won the challenge cup
He's even won a Bush title with wee waa panthers if I'm not mistaken.
Not many players have a record like that

The 01-03 Parra Jamie Lyon was one of the best young players I've ever seen. As he's got older and slowed a lil he's just added more strings to the bow and now he's one of the most complete players I've ever seen. He's kind of like what Laurie Daley could have become if he stayed a centre.

his avoidance of State of Origin when NSW could really have used his leadership.

I used to think this but if anything it's made his legacy better considering he's not associated with that rabble after 2010.

Choosing pig hunting over representing your country doesn't seem right though.

According to every Para fan I've ever known, Judas is a vile piece of scum.

But I'd bet they take him back in a heartbeat. Actually, they probably will sign him when he is 45. LOL!

Should have another 2-3 seasons in him though.

Without injury, what's that - at least 75 games.

He'll certainly give the 'most club games' record a shake.

Great case for the best centre in the 2000s.

And what a bizarre thread. People all agreeing on someone being a great player

It was started at the same time as the Jarrod Croker thread. This has 18 replies, crockers 48. I guess people prefer giving shit to someone over praising dudes. Although to be fair Crocker is really, really shit.
