what is about Jared Maxwell and the tigers? why did he favour Cronulla so much . Thank goodness he got the double movement penalty right but with the sharks offside and the pass to carney for his try being well forward why is he still refereeing. when referees favour clubs like he favoured Cronulla today its time to make way for an impartial ref. Maybe it was his first match of the season but if he continues to back sides against the tigers and allow them them so much leeway he should be dropped.

Fortunately he got the penalty right for the ultimate field goal but I thought he was going to miss it. I hope Maxwell changes because im sick of the way he favours sides who play the tigers . Does he have something against the club?

Maxwell is definitely a closet tigers fan, we all saw it in the semi final last year against the warriors, also a game the knights played against the tigers at Leichhardt last year was absolutely disgusting, first off he smashed us someone like 9-2 in the penalty department, then he penalises Chris Houston after Tim Simona pushes him and almost starts a brawl. As a result of the penalty the tigers score the match leveling try then in golden point he managed to miss Chris Heighnington take out Issac De Gois who was attempting to pressure Robbie Farah for the match winning field goal.

Yeah pretty bad call by Horseface but in the end it was an equally bad call to go for the goal on the first f**ken tackle.

Good game/

where did you get your information from. you could see so much from the sideline seats Robbie Farah never even tried to kick a field goal at any time during the game. Cant believe that Maxwell missed Bryce Gibbs taking Farah out 10 seconds after he kicked it and then he missed the knock on from Gallen when he awarded the scrum feed to the sharks when the tigers had kicked through and Gallen knocked on then Ashyford knocked on seconds after him and he awarded the scrum feed to Cronulla .at least the better team won but no thanks to Maxwell

Obviously not, hence why they conceeded two penalties.

The belief that the penalty count should be even is stupid. A team under pressure (usually the losing team) will give away more penalties, and is why the penatly count usaully favours the team that wins the game.

How people can point to an un-even penalty and blame the refs instead of their own team is just plain dumb

A referee that does not know the rules is an embarrassment to the game. That this flies without serious scrutiny shows the NRL up for amateurs.

It certainly seems to be the wrong call.

One of about 7 or 8 incorrect decisions made by Horsehead and Hornswaggle today. It will get the attention though as it is the decision that had a bearing on the end of the game.

All that we can hope is that through the review process all of the errors of Round 1 get addressed and the Reff group gets better and does so consistently throughout the year.

The Sharks should have closed that game out at the back end regardless considering the way the conditions sapped the players and that Wests Tigers had used 3/10 interchanges on backs (injury related).

Cronulla certainly are an improved side this season though

Maxwells performance yesterday surely comes as no surprise.

It's been the case for a while now that the referees have been the greatest blight on our game. The officiating is so horrid, so inconsistent, that it's threatened to turn me away from the game. And i doubt im the only one who feels this way.

I challenge anyone to name another sport where the referees have even half as much influence on the result of so many games, as a result of poor decision-making.

You are kidding right?

Soccer: I have seen many horrible game changing decisions i.e. Australia vs Italy World Cup 2006. In fact any decision of a referee in soccer can have dramatic effects on the game since soccer is low scoring.

NFL/College Football: Seen many games changed/influenced because of bad officiating.

Rugby Union: Would be worse than rugby league, considering the refs interpretation of a rule could result in a penalty or not and rugby union games are typically decided by penalties.

Cricket/Baseball: Many games throughout history have been affected by bad umpire decisions.

Baskeball/AFL: May be high scoring but it don't mean games are NOT affected by bad officiating.

Every sport can be influenced by bad officiating.

Raiders were robbed by that imbecile Badger. Ferguson scored a legitimate try that clearly came out of the hands of McCrone backwards and floated forward and even then it was marginal at best. Game changing call from an absolute useless tool of a ref.

Need a coach's challenge. And video on forward passes.

Anyway this wasn't a bad call. A bad call is forgiveable.

The ref did not know the rule.

what i would have liked to have seen was this.

Gallen go up and say to the ref.

"are you sure. are you 100 percent sure. have a think about it, its a hot day...mistakes get made. take a second and think about what just occured. this can be fixed."
