How do you think the bills will go Ron? I just can not see NE being weaker. Especially now the NFL has handed them 4 compensatory picks......

The whole click bait salary cap thing right now reminds us all of the cluster f**k frenzy around Hayne last year.

Contrary to a stream of reports in his native Australia, 49ers running back Jarryd Hayne isn’t returning to the National Rugby League.

At least not any time soon.

Today, Hayne made his first media appearance of 2016 and addressed the rumors that began last year suggesting he would ditch his fledgling NFL career. Hayne, 28, played in eight games last season, which was his first foray into football after a decorated rugby league career.

“At the start it got a bit annoying during last season,” Hayne said. “I guess it was disappointing, but that’s the media back home. They make stories up whether it’s to sell papers or try to get more viewers. I’m accustomed to that. I know how they operate. For me, I knew what I was doing. I knew where I was going.”

Hayne hopes he’s headed for a spot on the 53-man roster after his up-and-down rookie season. Hayne beat long odds to make the team thanks to an eye-opening preseason, but he was released and subsequently signed to the practice squad in midseason. He was promoted to the 53-man roster for the final two regular-season games. Hayne had 52 rushing yards (3.1 yards a carry), six catches for 27 yards and averaged 9.5 yards on eight punt returns.

He’s now learning a new offensive playbook, but said his learning curve isn’t nearly as steep as it was last year. Still, he hasn’t the dismissed the possibility that he’ll again tuck an Xs-and-Os cheat sheet into his shorts during offseason practices.

“I’m not too sure,” he said. “I’ve thought about it … We’ll see how we go.”

News Ltd are running a click bait story on Hayne entitled "Hayne gets silent treatment from new coach".

Click through and it says that the new coach uses a signal system from the sideline to tell players what the next play is ....

A new list reveals the top 50 NFL players with the most merchandise sales. The individual players keep about two-thirds of the revenue from the gear they sell, while the rest goes to the players union and into a pool for all players.
The list below takes into account all sales from March 2015 through February 2016, and was released Tuesday by the NFL Players Association.
Below is the list of players, broken down by how much they brought in:

$2 million to $2.5 million
43. Jarryd Hayne, RB, San Francisco 49ers
http://fox8.com/2016/04/26/one-browns-player-on-list-of-top-50-in-nfl-who-sold-the-most-gear/

So quick math lets says he sold $2.25mil and keeps 2/3rds = $1.5 million for Hayne.

Not bad for a bloke signed for $100k.

What percentage of sales are the Roosters going to give him from their 5 jersey sales a year?

I could be wrong on this, but as far as I am aware under the NRL rules, the NRL takes most of the merchandise sales and give some to the Club. I don't think the player gets a cent in the NRL. If the Club decided to give a player a percent of sales of merchandise, I would imagine it would have to be included in the salary cap in any case. Of course the sales of merchandise overall would theoretically be included in the grants provided to the club to pay the players.

I hear that if you play 5 years in the NFL you get a rather fat pension for life.

Actually I don't think they do, pretty sure it's geared towards given some support to the lesser salaried, lesser longevitied guys but still isn't a massive amount. Certainly not up there with USPGA or NBA and miles off the MLB. But they do have shorter career requirements than those plus a decent US super plan

Based on those income figures above, I'd imagine Hayne wouldn't mind a change of club over there in NFL if it eventuated, because it might tap into a new merchandise market - both in a different US city, and among his homeland followers.

Whatever happens I don't think he will ever be coming back. As sad as it is for me to say it.

He could just become a money making merchandise machine, all from the teams Practice Squad.

I think there was a massive wave of support early on when it seemed like he was going to do something amazing ... but i think that honeymoon passed and he'd have to take his playing career to another level to cash in again
