Would Jarryd Hayne have made the 2016 roster if he remained with the #49ers ?

Yes 67%

No 33%

The US media are into him. the most gifted player to play NRL l couldn't crack it, imagine all the cast off's that are floating around the US that would kill it in the NRL.

We have been scouting in the wrong like locations, get the most gifted athletes and turn them into footballers.

Can't see him coming back to us unless we don't re-sign someone like Norman. I think he will go to Rugby

Obviously it would be great for Hayne to come back to Parra. Just remember though, we need to sign a good prop as well.

Interesting to see what he does after the Olympics.

To be honest nothing would surprise me if he plays Origin before the series is done.

Literally back in OZ in a taxi from the airport. I turn on my phone and my best mate here, stags text comes on my phone. The jet lag instantly disappeared. Hayne will be an Eel again. He needs to fulfill his destiny. No way he will play against us.

PS I missed you guys, responding in the right timezone.

I don't think anyone is buying the official statement.
Contradicts what he has said so many times.
Obviously been tapped on the shoulder.

Who gives up a lifelong dream this far in to chase another (2x week) lifelong dream?

Cam Inman (SF reporter) was on FoxSports News earlier. He rejected the "tap" theory. He said that NFL clubs just cut and don't f**k around with semantics. He also said that the "retired" word has significance suggesting that the 49ers have first dibs on him of he wants to return, lik some merkin from the Patriots who has joined the USA 7's Rio team.

Wow what timing!

I always said that Jenning's signing will haunt us.

I don't see how we can fit Hayne in.

I reckon Hayne to dogs thanks to GTurd. He'll use SheRex's money

It's his one and only chance to play in the Olympics. He could sit on the sideline and get a few snaps or sit on the practise squad again for another year or take a shot at something different. Hayne in all that open space would be great to see.

Well this is an interesting development...

A FORMER ASADA boss has poured cold water on Jarryd Hayne’s new dream of playing Rugby 7s for Fiji at the Rio Olympics.

Richard Ings responded to news Hayne had quit the NFL to join the Fiji camp as early as this week ahead of the London Sevens by questioning his eligibility to play.
Ings stated Hayne would be unlikely to play any professional sport, including rugby sevens, for at least six months pending time spent in a registered drug-testing pool.
The NFL does not comply with the world anti-doping agency’s code, meaning any player looking to switch from American football must first undergo intense drug screening before being deemed able to play professional sport elsewhere.

Ings said this morning he expected World Rugby Sevens to step in and veto Hayne’s Rio bid.
“The six-month return to competition rule is standard across most sports for athletes returning to international competition. And necessary,” Ings said on Twitter.
“If Jarryd Hayne had been playing in WADA-compliant sport he would have grounds to reduce the 6 months.
“But NFL is (performance enhancing drugs) badlands. No chance.”

Hayne for 2017... we'll have plenty of space to fit him in - if we want to :sarcasm:.

Reorganise (legitimate) TPAs for all players, that are currently counted under our NRL cap. Create space within our NRL cap. Keep De Gois/Pritchard as our hooking option, not re-sign Gordon, then sign Hayne...

Btw French Rugby Rnd 1 is November last game end May. So no guarantee he'll play NRL.
Good point, if his "Rugby 7s Dream" goes well, it opens the door to French rugby, and no doubt Japanese rugby (more lucrative in terms of sponsorship/personal profile?).

If he's just left his first "Dream" to pursue another "Dream", then who's to say that he'll want to return to little old rugby league at all after all of this?

We could also start to offload any player we don't want next season, this season. After all, it's not as if we have too much to play for.

I'd be surprised if The Plane returned, but who knows.
