Hayne and his manager keep saying its not about money so we should sign him up for 300k a season.

How about we just pool our money together for a TPA, we just put it all on Hayne to sign with the eels (paying $11 at the tab). Then give Hayne the winning ticket.

Just make him come on here once a week.

Think you will find Jennings has a legitimate TPA with Nike so he may only be on the cap for $500k.
The advantage we have with getting Hayne is 1) he wants to come back to parra if he plays NRL again, 2) would take a little less to come back to parra and will have no problems getting his own TPA's. 3) we have a lot of players off contract who would be on $150K + who we could replace with some juniors on less than $100k to find to room for Hayne. Would hurt our depth a little for a couple years but also improve the development of some of the juniors.
It's doable as i can see it provided we have not too many injuries with Hayne added we could be a Premiership contender (would have been this year without all the other crap)

All Jennings TPAs that the Roosters organised are probably all under our salary cap this year...

On TPA's when player moves clubs, if you give a player money through a TPA and the player leave sthe club, I guess you can't rescind the TPA because he's leaving the club?

TPA's are all about exposure. Parra rates its arse off, so why lose the TPA?

I actually thought about this scenario yesterday. The Plane is not an NRL player currently, so essentially he's not governed by any rules that don't allow him gambling on NRL events. After the Olympics (if he even makes the team) he will essentially be just another "joe citizen", so what would be stopping him (or family members perhaps) putting the maximum bet allowable on the correct outcome? After all, he's the only one who will determine the correct outcome

I agree in principle with what your saying, but to suggest that most TPA sponsors aren't supporters of a particular club I think is a bit ridiculous. Why would a Roosters supporter continue to sponsor Jennings to play for Parra?

Well in couldn't be in the TPA contract that if you leave a certain club then the contract is voided, not if it's a registered TPA anyway of that then would show it's not arms length from the club.
If the player manager has organised the deal for Jennings with Nike and nike don't sponsor the club he plays at in anyway then the NRL shouldn't even need to know about it. That's where the issue is and one that Hayne complained about before he left for the NFL, the players don't even own their own name in the NRL.

Last night on NRL360 Paul Kent said that Hayne was a failure at NFL.

Benji & Ennis disagreed and went through the numbers of rookies, draft candidates and the real odds of any one person actually starting an NFL game.

Kent was squirming in his seat.

I really have to laugh at Kent. He is the last person that should be talking about failure in sport. His rugby league career was a massive fail.

I remember him last year going on about how great Hayne is and how it's great RL is getting exposure in States because of Hayne.

News Ltd are nothing but scum.

What a f**king merkin.

I thought clubs couldnt organize them.
THat is meant to be true but we all know the reality.
Club can introduce the parties but can't be involved in discusses or guarantee the money.
Biggest problem i have heard with TPA's is a business gives a player a TPA, in return he might want them appear at his business function or be a guest speaker at a conference that hold of something like that so they get something for their money. I hear of players don't turn up for what ever it is they have to do as part of the deal, some businesses don't pay the TPA because of it, then the player manager hit's up the club and a lot won't do the TPA again the following the year.
You would think for a extra $30-$50k you could turn up for one function for like 3 hours wouldn't you?

I also remember there being a rule that said a TPA wasn't allowed to be conditional of a player playing for a certain club?

Exactly right. Craig Wing got in trouble when he failed to turn up to work at John McGrath's office.

His third-party agreement - worth $100,000 a year - with Souths sponsor John McGrath Real Estate fell through when he failed to show up to work four hours a week.

Millionaire real estate merkin John McGrath is now a board member of the bunnies. Nothing to see here. I'm sure that they were at arms length at the time.

sits on the Board of the South Sydney "Rabbitohs".

I think the term 'arms length' refers to the club not arranging the TPA for the player.

SAN Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly says he was surprised by Jarryd Hayne’s announcement he was retiring from the NFL to play rugby sevens for Fiji at the Olympics.
Kelly also doused speculation the 49ers were planning to cut Hayne, which led to the Australian making a face-saving exit. The 49ers instead were bullish on Hayne, praising his ability to pick up Kelly’s new offence and excited about using his powerful, 188cm body and skills.
“He’s a really sharp learner,” Kelly told reporters on Tuesday at the 49ers’ Santa Clara facility.
“We were excited. He’s a big body and has a skill set.”
Hayne and the 49ers announced on Sunday that Hayne had made the decision to quit the NFL to pursue his dream of winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
Kelly said he didn’t speak to Hayne about possibly returning to the 49ers after his Olympics stint, although the team holds his rights.
Kelly seemed to suggest Hayne would have had a decent shot at making the 49ers 53-man roster.

“We didn’t even talk about that,” Kelly said.
“He met with (49ers general manager) Trent (Baalke) first and came down and explained what he wanted to do — that he was going to play for Fiji in the rugby sevens.
“Yeah, I was surprised. I had no idea.”

Hayne faced plenty of competition for the running back and punt or kick return jobs on the 49ers’ 53-man squad.
Kelly said the team’s off-season was still young so he did not have a depth chart ranking where Hayne stood at each position. Kelly wants to see players practising in pads, which will come closer to the start of the NFL season in September.
However, Kelly’s tone showed that Hayne would have had a decent shot at making the 53-man squad.
“I was really impressed with how much he picked up,” Kelly said. “This is his second system.
“He’s only been in the league for two years and has never played football before.”

You the bloke that says I moving to the roosters every 2weeks? doesnt happen. So now make up a new story

loving this

Does anyone else get the feeling that he doesn't want to go to the Roosters just so he can stick it up all these journos? He clearly dislikes them immensely and I don't think we wants to give them the satisfaction of them saying they were right all along.

The more they say it - the more it helps our cause I reckon.
