so................what to do with all those 9er's no 38 shirts in Rebel Sports
Bonfire? Given that Hayne (metaphorically) set fire to his Eels contract when he opted out one year early.

Good on Jarryd for giving it a go - and he did extremely well - but "the dream" (and the wall to wall hype and marketing) is now looking over.

No way imo he'll be satisfied waiting it out for the rest of the year in a practice squad if no other team signs him up - and why would they if even the lowly 49ers couldn't afford to keep him on?

Hayne seems to crave a certain level of attention, and I don't think coming back to league with his tail between his legs (and a different body composition) will be an option. Japanese rugby here he come$...!

.@JarrydHayne found out he was cut while on team bus.
That's tough.

Even based on Americans movies etc (Jerry Maguire, Bull Durham...) you'd expect a on-on-one chat. Must've pissed then off in some way - fumbles, attitude?

Hayne just posted:

Blessed for another test. Thanks for the love FaceBook. Wish my guys all the best against the Rams. if nothing happens Ill be back on Tuesday✌

Back on Tuesday????!!!! Unless he means back to the practice squad...
Back on facebook on Tuesday? Or heading back to Australia on Tuesday?

To soak up all the requests for interviews, reality shows, co-hosting gigs etc, while he's still a talking point?

Or back playing Madden on playstation ;-).

(Before anyone posts, I get that he'll return to 49ers practice squad on Tuesday, if nothing happens during the waivers period. Detroit was always a rumour initially - what are their punt return/running back stocks like?)

Tomsula on team bus:

"Attention players, we have completed our evaluation of the team. We regret to announce the following cuts, which I will read in alphabetical order:

Hayne, Jarryd..........That is all"

Nope that is just the 49ers under the current administration. They cut a club stalwart and arguably club legend in running back Frank Gore coming into this season and refused to do the deed face to face. Owner Jed York and GM Trent Baalke are just really, really shitty at running a franchise.

I cannot see Hayne's ambition/ego allowing him to make a return to the NRL anytime soon. Don't get me wrong I'd have him back in a heartbeat however I would prefer we have another season without him and make an informed decision on him for 2017 (should he become available). If he decides to come back next year there will be immense pressure for the NRL and our board to have him back in our colours as he promised he would be an "eel for life". Assuming we want him and he opts to go somewhere else the Jamie Lyon snub will pale into insignificance and he will become the most hated player in Parra'a history,

I wouldn't hate him. The club screwed him with shot coaches, what does he owe us?

me either .... the lyon thing was one series of manipulations after another (not necessarily by jamie, prob his manager and the manly boofheads, but jamie went along with it so f**k him) .... i'm over the lyon thing now, but he'll still be more of a merkin in my eyes than hayne ever would be ... at least hayne was upfront

True but Lyon never left saying I have a lifetime deal with the eels as Hayne did. If he goes back on that then it is pretty low.

i think he was just a bit emotional at the time .... i think the club was pushing it more to save some face for losing their star ..... I put no value on what was said

Also, what manipulations were in the Lyon fiasco? If the rumours of what actually happened in round 1 (i think) of that year are correct then it was our coaching staff doing the manipulating.

And this is what he said:

"I'm leaving knowing that I have signed a 'lifetime agreement' with the Eels, so if I return to the NRL, it will be to Parramatta."

I don't care how emotional he was. That was part of his official statement so there would have been plenty of time to prepare it and make changes if necessary. I don't believe the lifetime deal exists but as I said it is a f**ken low act to say there is one if in fact there isn't.

they dragged it through the media relentlessly - particularly via dipshit raaaaaay and he pro-manly colleagues - making all sorts of threats they would expose things - all in an attempt to get lyon to manly immediately .... of course nothing drastic was exposed - my belief is Smith was harsh - thats smithy, he rubs some people the wrong way .... to fitzy's credit he stood firm and refused a release to manly

Only if he has a guaranteed path to the Eels and chooses another team. Finding a million on the cap when you aren't expecting it is not easy.

It just may not work out.

haha the old "seward did it". I reckon Parra will be blaming Seward for every f**k up for the next 5 years. When the toilets on the upgraded stadium don't flush properly, Sharpy will be saying Seward took a huge dump back in 2014 and clogged the pipes.

Yea for sure. I wouldn't hold it against Hayne if Parra said no we can't fit you in. But, if we are keen on him and he jumps ship to anyone else then it will be a dog act.

so what if we are keen but can only offer say $600K - while another club can offer $800K? .... is he a merkin then for taking the better $s?
