How many minutes of football is played between a tackle in the NFL and the start of the next play? I remember reading somewhere that there's only 11 minutes of actual play in an average NFL game.

http://www.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052748704281204575002852055561406 there's the article. It seems there's more time spent on looking at replays of what's going on than actually what's going on during the play.

I've seen that stat before.
It just confuses me, because I watch condensed games on the NFL GamePass which take out all the ads and between-the-play stuff. All you get is the action. But he games go for around half an hour usually. Not sure how they came up with 11 minutes, but I guess I'll take the word of a reputable media organisation such as the Wall Street Journal.

Was told today by someone who has links at Roosters club, though have no idea if this is true, but rumour has it Politis is in talks with Hayne in San Fran as we speak, this guy normally is pretty spot on.

Even if they take out all the guff, you are still left with more time before the snap and after the play finishes than the play actually takes. 30mins for 11mins of "play" sounds about right.

Piss funny. Jazz is at the wavers and clappers conference whilst rehabbing post op.

You all know what? If he comes back to the NRL and it's not with Parra the world will still turn. As much as I would like to see him back in an Eels jumper, we can't live in the past. I think in time we will move on and be a better team for it. After all, the other 15 clubs don't have him either and we never won a title with him on the books. I personally hope he succeeds at NFL, realises his dream and never plays NRL again. Just imagine this place if he signed with any one of the 16 clubs. I doubt I could handle it.

Why does everyone get so excited about the roosters stuff?

The bloke is clearly 100% committed to making a fist of nfl, and looking more likely to succeed every time we hear about it

Because the very honest and non agenda driven media told us that he has all but signed with the Roosters when he comes back.

They're trustworthy aren't they?

As far as I'm concerned, Hayne is not coming back to the NRL. at all. ever.

If playing in the NFL really is his dream (and I believe it is, as it's the kind of stage an athlete like him should be playing on) getting cut this year shouldn't stop him, and it shouldn't. If this is what he wants, and it's something he has wanted for a long time, then quitting after his first attempt would make him less of a person that I thought he was and what we all have seen him to be so far.

Being a tough competitor isn't about quitting when you fail on the first attempt.

The 49'ers weren't the only team interested in him, and at worst, he'll be on the 49'ers practice squad for 2015/16 and beyond, and if you give him a year of training on the practice squad, he'd pretty much be a shoe-in to make the 52 man squad for 2016/17 season.

We need to make peace with the fact that he's gone, and not coming back. He isn't signing with the Roosters (HA!) and his NRL career is over.

Honestly, Parra will probably be a better team for it. Instead of leaning on Hayne to make things happen and win games for us, the rest of the guys are learning to rely on each other, and are going to be a lot stronger having to make plays happen without relying on Hayne.

Remember before when Hayne would stub his toe and people would be jumping out of windows cause our season was over? If we build our club right that situation won't happen anymore, and it will be awesome.

I hope he doesn't come back.
For one, because it would be great to see him achieve his goal. Secondly, because it will be my favourite NRL player playing for my favourite NFL team (hopefully).
And third, because if he does come back I doubt it will be with the Eels. And that would crush me. I would just hate to see that. Especially if it's with the Roosters or Bulldogs.

I'm not one bit surprised Hindmarsh and Hayne didn't enjoy all that clse a relationship. I always got the feeling they were different wavelengths... Hindmarsh is more old school, play hard, go to the pub with the boys, get drunk and fall down... Hayne is new wave, finish the game and hit the cafe's or head to church with Timmy and Seffa...
