Yesterday I renewed my membership and bought some gear for my son and I. My son and I was so excited about 2015, now we want a refund. I will always love my Eels but this feels like a mutation of Sterling retiring and Lyon walking out.

Absolutely gutted.

what a sorry bunch of people on this board, and selfish too, I didn't realise Jarryd had to report to the utter spastics on here and not allowed to do what he wants to do.

f**kwits.

2 things.

He and Wayne Beavis said that the Eels had just set him up to be highest paid player in rugby league, TP agreements etc, but he wanted to test himself and would regret it if he didn't do that. Remember , Hillsong is all about chasing the dream

Seward also confirmd that the club only were advised late yesterday, so I assume the CEO worked hard to get the signed agreement for his lifetime deal

I heard that they have a couple of good offers out there for very handy backs, see what happens over the next few days

Just saying - but Hayne is a huge NFL fan, so he'd be aware of all the basics of the code.

He'd just need to work on the finer things.

He said he's learnt the basics on Playstation
He's also a huge soccer fan so maybe his next career move will be playing for the Wanderers? He loves a challenge and he does love playing FIFA afterall.
I like watching the Superbowl but now that he's no longer an Eel and has walked out before his contract has ended, I couldn't care less how he goes in the NFL.
His only saving grace IMO will be if this is all a well organised plan for us to get out of paying his back ended contract and for him to return, knowing that 3rd party sponsors will be fighting to get him on board and the NRL paying some of his contract. If it's all as it seems however I am filthy that our CAPTAIN has abandoned ship!

I would have let him go if I was the boss but the return if you don't make it clause would be ironclad with no key.

whatever old man, maybe we should all bring back grass hills too, contracts arent what they use to be, grow with the times.

Does that mean a club should be ok to sack a player for no other reason than they want a better player? Fair is fair .

If you don't feel hayne has made a selfish decision perhaps your mors are a little different to others. No reason too mock someone else morals standings. If you want to live by the dog eat dog world grat.Doesnt mean we all have too.

I can't understand some of the hate in this thread.
Hayne is a professional athelete, just like any of us who are professionals in our own chosen careers. He has chosen to test himself on his strengths in his profession, with the ultimate reward being success. Who amongst us wouldn't want to do that? Oh, that's right - the weak and feeble.

He has stated that this is not a financial decision. I believe him. He was a young kid bought up in Minto that has achieved incredible success and undoubtedly, a good deal of wealth beyond his dreams already. I don't think money is his motivation.

For those "claiming" that the timing is poor - when would the timing have been better? It's just 6 weeks after our last game and it appears he was still mulling over the decision during those 6 weeks, with the trip to Seattle.
What would you have preferred? Christmas Day? Just before next season starts? Half way through next season and risk destabilising the team? Fair dinkum. The timing couldn't have been better tbh.

I have the utmost respect and support for what he is doing. It would have been a f**king tough decision but just like the risks he took as a player, he is taking the same risks in making this decision. He has no contract and no big pay day yet. It is a gamble.

As I said in a previous post, I'm saddened. I'm shocked. I'm disappointed.
But I don't hate. I wish him the best.

Bull$hit he said he has been thinking about it for 3 -4 yrs.He should of made a decision by June so club could work out there roster.
I hope he does well. Not ok I hope he becomes a superstar and not just plays as a back up a few times. That wouldn't be making it.
He has let a lot of people down Suity.Leasst he could of done was give some notice

also, much different to watching the NFL and and having guys chop block your legs from behind you and taking you out with your eyes elswhere, there is a reason why they need pads to wear this game, the hits and tackles come from everywhere and you dont even have the ball in your hands

Of course it is, mate - but my point is he's already a keen fan and so has at least a basic understanding of the sport.
