I think you read that quote wrong.
He was specifically talking about sprint training. League is more focused on endurance rather than bursts of speed. Hayne was just talking about how different the training will be.

It was a radio interview with Dan Somethingorother.

Look, I've no doubt the NFL is a few notches above the NRL in tes of organisational structure - they've got more money and fans than we ever will.

But personally, I don't think it's right of him to be saying anything. Talk up the NFL, leave it at that.

Seems Hayne knows exactly how his worked. As does the club & the NRL.

There are always a few fans who think that a footy players contract involves indentured servitude. These fans are wrong.

He doesn't have to play.

If he doesn't he doesn't get paid.

He probably can't play for another NRL side until the contract period is over.

That's it.

You think you could ban someone from working anywhere with a contract clause?

You can certainly prevent them from engaging in occupations incompatible with the one that is the focus of the contract, and from moonlighting.

Obviously, in labour contracts, enforcing specific performance is not practical (i.e. you can't make someone play for you)....but you can stop them from working for your competitors for the duration of the contract, and when people are released from a contract mid-term it is common to agree a 'no compete' clause in many occupations.

So Hayne waited for BA to be out of the country to quit..

I see he has now run off tonight to LA tonight probably wanted to get out of town before BA got back

Comparing someone voluntarily signing a contract to play professional sport for ~$800k/year to indentured servitude.

Stay classy.

And those clauses generally aren't really worth the paper they are written on. Unless you've compensated someone for giving up that freedom, it wont hold up. If you have, well they might need to recompense.

I'm not the one suggesting that Hayne has to stay in order to honour a contract. Take it up with that lot.

You pretending to know the details of SBW's contract?

dear God

i'm talking about when he walked out on the Dogs you simpleton

he was not allowed to play French Yawnion until Bumdine paid the Dogs money as he was still under contract

Hayne could not have tried to play any sport unless he had got a release

you are trying to make it sound like he could only not play for another NRL club

I'm no expert but I reckon the SBW to union thing was quite different.

Union and League are closer together - infact I am pretty sure they have some common body somehow ..... both codes could probably persuade the other to cooperate a bit in their own best interests

NFL is a completely different beast and if some team really wanted hayne to play for them, I don't think the NFL would give a flying f**k what some small sport (played in parts of australia/nz/pacific/england/france) thought or wanted - the NFL has nothing to lose by not cooperating with the tiny-weeny NRL

it doesn't matter what the NFL think

Canterbury went to court to stop him playing http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...ance-by-bulldogs/story-e6freyki-1111117142927

Parramatta could have done the same if they hadn't agreed to give him a release

Union and League are not close at all and i have no idea whatever made you think they have the same governing body
