I don't think what he said should be interpreted the way you are suggesting.

He is not belittling them at all, I bet they did say what he has said, I'd say the same thing to my friends in the same relevant situation.

Twas me that mentioned belittling. I say that bc of his comments about playing nfl is his dream. I'd say his team mates would of thought his dream was to captain the eels to premiership glory. Or am I missing something here???

His team mates knew mid year how serious Hayne was about moving to NFL and have supported him 100% through his whole decision making process.

I haven't seen any Parra players or NRL players, coaches, officials, not one person get stuck into Hayne for leaving the way he has, or to go play NFL (is there even one or two out there??).

The main group getting into him are some Parra fans who feel cheated the way he left, with one season to go, left our club is a mess they say? LOL. I guess that's what a forum is for, so the minority has a voice.

Consider the mess we have been in the last 5 years (some would say last 7 years), and Hayne has been by far our best player and had to go through all that shit. Now freeing up millions is also a mess? LOL . There are plenty of players who will jump ship mid contract if we want them eg watmough has been one. We potentially can get Brett Stewart, Hoffman etc.... Parra as a club will be fine

Many here are saying he was a cancer to the club, not a leader, All about Jaryyd etc...Its a game folks, when your no1 you look after no1. The bloke isn't a crook or criminal. He was Parras best, NRLS best. This is what he wants to do for a long while. He just had his best year at Parra, he gave everything, no use to us if he hasn't got the desire to do it again next year.

With the timing of the announcement, heres the thing. I would do the same thing. Its a massive and risky move. I would want to make sure I have no doubts. He also gave his all to Parra this year without the hoo haa fan fare of him going to the NFL (seriously, can you imagine the BS he would have got from some Parra fans throughout the year, your kidding if you think he wouldnt). It also gave him time to make sure 100% , without any doubt, he was leaving, he was definitely going to try at NFL.

"what about Sam Burgess" I hear people crying. Totally different, Sammy boy had to make up his mind before the season and was thrown truckloads of dollars to do so. Is specifically doing it to play in next years RUWC in his England, and has every chance of coming back to Souths in a couple of years or so, a good chance. Hayne has no guarantees, at least Sammy boy has his pockets full

The kid left Parra cause he has bigger dreams he wants full filled and was tired of the NRL. Do we really want him hanging around next year when he is now 100% commited to NFL?.

He could have stayed and taken the easy 6.75 million, and I tell you right now, there would be some of you more pissed of with that than him leaving the way he had.

You keep referring to public comments by Hayne and others involved. What makes you think they are saying all the same things behind closed doors?

And don't say your cousin told you.

Firstly, remind me not to hire you :) Everything above is about self-interest (which is fine) pursued in such a manner as to shift a lot of the cost to the club (which is the bit I don't like). I'd have had no problem whatsoever with him announcing he was leaving earlier in the season (but agree that some would go off their brain). Just because Jarryd's behaviour makes rational sense to Jarryd doesn't mean that the people adversely affected by the decision should just happily say...'well I guess that's best for him'. Despite this, I genuinely hope he does well in the NFL.

I don't understand what any of those differences have to do with the morality or otherwise of JH's choice to finalise one's decision at a time when the club's options for replacement are heavily constrained.

Agree 100%. I got no problem with him leaving, in fact I admire him for it. And in the long run it is quite possible that the cap space can be better used (not knocking JH).

I have no issues with him leaving. I have even wished him best of luck.

My issues with him is his timing and choice of words in leaving. And if he did leave without at least talking to BA, shows what kind of character he is.

So why we're were still looking to offload players like Mossop and Allgood the week before the announcement????

Who reported this?
We have been looking to offload Allgood for much of this year, Mossop i believe we are happy to give another shot to.

Yeah that is my opinion. If he made the decision early in the year at least the coaching trust could have had a few more off contract players to consider.

Probably because they are on to much money. I reckon mossop will go ok once fit. But Allgood is probably on to much, I reckon Álvaro could pass him next year and cost 1/3 of the price.

And that pretty much is most of the feeling of the people on here. Which isn't unreasonable at all.
