The way hayne spoke about the eels earlier today, I'm starting to think he agreed to a life long contract just to be granted a release for season 2015.

I think he may of seen Haynes last game in the nrl, and believe he's definitely played his last for our beloved eels.

So by telling the truth about your boyfriend WHO LEFT OUR CLUB - I'm not supporting our club? How about I go and follow an NFL team? Oh and GO THE WANDERERS and CHELSEA!

No. There is no truth in your whining. You ignore everything that is good. Go.

Parra has to move on and replace The Plane's salary cap portion to new players. If The Plane returned to the NRL, it is unlikely we would be in a position to sign The Plane anyway, unless the NRL paid him directly and bugger all of his contract went under the salary cap.

Would you be just as glad that The Plane is gone if the Club decides to spend his entire Salary Cap money on Kurtly Beale or Israel Folau and that is the only change made to the current roster?

Nope. I think either would be a terrible signing. I actually think Folau would be a liability at centre (in defence) and he is too one dimensional for fullback. He would be great on the wing but overpaid.

Beale could be a sublime NRL fullback but I don't want shit attitudes at the club. For this reason I would prefer Kenny-Dowall to Ferguson.

Well what you'd prefer and what you're possibly going to end up with a probably 2 completely different things... Until it's finalised just whom the Club will be spending The Plane's salary cap money on I think it is far too early to say whether or not we are better off without him.

The best thing we could do with Hayne's money is to front load extensions to Hopoate and whomever else we want to keep (Sandow? Pauli?)

So you're happy just to play the 2015 season with the current squad of players?

If Hopoate plays fullback we need another centre. If Robinson plays fullback we're good for centres. We also have a few more forwards on the way.

Other than that I'm happy. We don't need any marquee player to replace Hayne. If we had better forwards this year and no Hayne we wouldn't have been as dependent on him. And I reckon we would've done better than we did. IMO. The game is all about forwards right now.

I agree with your thoughts on the forwards, but your delusional if you think our current squad of forwards are world beaters.

The new forwards we have next year are just different than the ones we already have. I wouldn't say any of them are better. Just because we have different forwards doesn't make them better. In fact I'd say none of them are capable of winning us the play the ball area consistently and without The Plane we will struggle to score many tries. I wouldn't expect this squad of players as it stands to worry too many teams to be honest.

I think you underestimate just how many tries The Plane single handedly delivered this season.

I think that with a healthy Peats, Lussick, Mossop and Ma'u, plus an extra off season for Paulo, Moeroa and Pauli, we will be much stronger next year. At their best Wicks and Fa'aoso were better than most of our forwards, and are both wildcards going into next year. Then there's Watmough.

Everything seems to have gone quiet on the Watmough front. How do we even know that with The Plane gone that he's now changed his mind and is looking elsewhere?

Even if he has signed he is still at Manly in 2015. If I was Manly I would be far more strategic and sign Hopoate from 2016 and make Parra play ball for the direct swap.

Wicks hasn't played for 5 years next year and Fa'aoso is not getting any younger. The other buys aren't going to worry anyone.

I think your dreaming that all those players will improve that much and every other player in the NRL will stagnate or go backwards.

With 7 of the bottom 9 sides starting next year with a different coach than they started with in 2014 I think they will all be different sides.

How do you know Hayne won't be back before July at half price? Of course I'm assuming Watmough will come. This just means we will have to pay more, but we can also front load him so he costs us less in later years.

Manly already have two halves they're trying to retain in the face of massive interest from other clubs. I'm sure we would have let Hopoate go after 2015 but with Hayne gone we will probably extend him.

That's what I'd do rather than depend on Hayne coming back.

Wicks and Fa'aoso are both big and hard. They will add plenty to our group whether they play first grade or not.

It doesn't need 'every other player' to stagnate or go backwards. It just needs young players to improve, old players to decline, and players at the peak to stagnate. Which is what happens every year. Edwards and Ma'u will probably improve too, given their inexperience.

With 7 of the bottom 9 sides starting next year with a different coach than they started with in 2014 I think they will all be different sides.
Exactly, and just as likely to be worse.

We can't just run with the squad we already have. We need to spend a minimum amount and Hayne's departure would have put us under that.

So if we don't find good money replacements then the alternative is to extend contracts we already have and front load into this year.

But the question is: do we have enough players we already want to extend, and will those players end up costing enough to get us above the minimum?

What's the possibility we make a mistake with this and extend someone we probably shouldn't?

Alternatively, who should we be looking to extend in the first place. Poo thinks Hoppa, but who else?

Do you think anyone would have the amount of cap room spare to cover the salary Hayne would be asking if he returned? We'd be in no worse position than any other club.
