Firstly, remind me not to hire you

Everything above is about self-interest (which is fine) pursued in such a manner as to shift a lot of the cost to the club (which is the bit I don't like). I'd have had no problem whatsoever with him announcing he was leaving earlier in the season (but agree that some would go off their brain). Just because Jarryd's behaviour makes rational sense to Jarryd doesn't mean that the people adversely affected by the decision should just happily say...'well I guess that's best for him'. Despite this, I genuinely hope he does well in the NFL.
I don't think Jarryd cares nor should he. I wouldn't give a toss what some fans thought if I was chasing something I really believed in, especially If I was the clubs best player over 9 seasons. You cant make everyone happy.
Parra will move on and prepare a full off season without him, so will I.
I don't understand what any of those differences have to do with the morality or otherwise of JH's choice to finalise one's decision at a time when the club's options for replacement are heavily constrained.
When was the last time a marquee player went to an unknown sport without a contract? let alone announced it well in advance. Nil and nobody.
Haynes situation is unique, with no contract and no guarantees. He could have got a serious injury late in the season (and then we get him for half a season next year on full payment and this thread doesn't exist). Timing of his announcement was nothing more than insurance for Jarryd. (The likes of Sammy boy didn't have to worry about). Hayne wanted to make sure he was mentally and
physically 100% ready to go to NFL and give it a crack. Selfish sure, Looking after no1, you bet. I would do the same.
