Just heard the news. It's all over the Eels web site and seems to be a done deal. Except the article says:

"At this point Jarryd does not have a contract with any NFL Club and is hoping to be added to an NFL practice squad."

Massive mistake in my book. He's giving up superstar status here for what... a "maybe" in NFL?

I actually thought there would have been feelers from a few teams for him to do this. But no interest yet. He is going to find out NFL teams aren't all that keen on 27 year old rookies.

I have a bad feeling he is going to be really stubborn about this and spend three years wasting away trying for his dream, sort of like what Michael Jordan did with baseball ...and that is going to tarnish everything he has built in the NRL.
