I am devastated!
The most freakish player is leaving, my favourite player to watch.
But instead of hatred towards him and the club all I can do is applaud, having the privilege to be able to watch him and to now do something he has always wanted to do. The club and Hayne have made the right decision.
Who would turn an opportunity down like that?

It's going to suck not watching the plane take off at parra any more, but I actually think we won't be a complete waste of a team next year like others think.

I don't think there is much the NRL could have done. He wants the challenge and doesn't even have s contract so it's not like money was the top reason for leaving (obviously the potential financial award does help)

As a Souths fan who has seen the same thing happen with my club in Sam Burgess leaving for rugby, I really feel for Parra fans. However, your 100% correct in saying that there is nothing more the NRL could do. I think with players like Hayne and Burgess, the reality is that rugby league is not big enough for those stars; they're bigger than the game. Thats not the NRL's fault, its just that the game is not that big on a global scale compared to the likes of NFL, Rugby etc.

I only started to post on here because of State of Origin and right at the heart of my NSW team was always Jarryd Hayne. In all the scouting I've done over the years to find future stars for NSW I always had Jarryd as the key figure and leader of the state. Him leaving is just too hard, I don't think I'm going to watch NRL any more and I may just skip the origin series. I think I'll also stop posting on this site, I just don't have the heart for it any more. So to everyone on here, take care and good luck. May we meet again.

Wish Hayne all the best in chaising his dream.

But supporting this club is like a long sustained kick to the balls. All we can hope for is the odd good season every few years and pure BS for the rest.

Agree on the sentiment.

Sam Burgess announced his intentions in Feb 2014.

My son who started following league in 2009 on the back of Hayne is devestated. He even shed a tear.

I know I've just said that they're are players who are simply bigger than rugby league but clubs can't think like that. You see it happen all the time in sport, where you have a player who you think is irreplaceable but you end up filling the void. I think we need to put it in perspective: yes losing players like Burgess, Hayne is a big loss but our club is bigger than one man.

Shattered, can't believe it.

This club is cursed it truly is.

I feel like someone punched me fair in the guts, don't know how to feel Id like to wish him well but this has totally f**ked the club.
oh well, you still have nathan davis. he plays a bit of fullback, doesn't he?

OK, so I've obviously been quite critical of Hayne over the years. Mostly this was because:

a) He was ridiculously inconsistent, especially for the money he was being paid;
b) He is a massively arrogant douchebag.

Now, however, the second point above will be an asset for him. However, if he doesn't take care of the first then this move will come to nothing.

***

Having said all of that, there were plenty of times where it was a pleasure to watch him. Thanks for the memories, Jarryd, and good luck.
