You're right. Leadership and Captaincy is irrelevant here. So is the fact that Fulton became a coach. I'm just comparing the on-field performances of the two. And I'll have to be fair - Fulton did play in better sides than Hayne, and played mostly five-eight and inside centre, so he was closer to the action. It's just my opinion, that's all. It doesn't really mean very much. Gee, Hayne and Fulton in the same side would have been something to behold!

On the contrary - if you were fortunate enought to watch both Bozo and Hayne play, and you rate Bozo higher, then he must have been a hell of a player.

I never had that fortune, but I was lucky enough to witness Johns, Fittler and Lockyer at the height of their powers, and, in my eyes - purely based on talent - Hayne was above them. The aforementioned trio were brilliant, but Hayne had no right to be as fast as he was (given his size), nor did he have any right to be so skillful (given his playing position).

I still claim Hayne as the best passer of the ball I've seen.

Use the cap and move on - f**k Hayne/QUOTE]

i think the reason for the visit was to determine the way they can use the cap space this year, given there is no one to purchase for 2015. The second question would be , if we use the cap and Princess comes back, what implications does that have and what assistance do we get.

Good to see the CEO at least asking questions, now if we were the Rorters , different matter. Just do whatever ! And it will,be OK

JARRYD Hayne would have signed with an NFL team’s practice squad two weeks ago, but visa complications have forced the former rugby league star to temporarily return home.
Speaking at Sydney Airport this morning, Hayne confirmed he has a team and will officially start training in the New Year.
The ex-Parramatta fullback held a joint session in San Diego in front of 12 franchises a fortnight ago, resulting in him fielding interest from 14 teams.
Hayne has since toured the facilities of a number of teams, including Seattle, Detroit and San Francisco.

The 26-year-old couldn’t confirm the team, but said “you will find out in the due course”.
“The biggest hurdle was the visa and they can’t get it sorted out until just after Christmas,” Hayne told the Daily Telegraph.
“That’s the main reason I have come home, because there is no point if I can’t be with the team.
“You can’t even be in the facility for longer than 24 hours if you haven’t signed a contract and I couldn’t sign a contract without a VISA.
“So we’ll have that sorted after Christmas and then in the New Year I’ll have a team.
“But I was meant to start with a team two weeks ago.
“I had packed my bags and was ready to start the next day, but it wasn’t until I flew into the facility that the visa concerns came up.
“With the practice squad there is no salary and it’s just a week-to-week basis.
“The immigration said I can sign another contract after December 29, so I just felt like that was a sign to shut it down for a bit and get that rest.
“I’m a long way away from where I want to be, but I’m definitely taking the right steps in the right direction.
“But the interest has been very overwhelming.”

Selfishly, I'd love Hayne to fail soon and be back to win us the premiership next year...but I'm also hoping he makes it 'cos that'd be kinda cool and some validation of the quality of the NRL, and what many of us have been saying about Hayne for years, ie that he's a once in a lifetime talent.

The article does say "What if they fill their salary cap and Hayne decides to come home? Do they need to leave room in the salary cap just in case?"
You're right, if it was the Rorters they could just use the cap and get all the help they need but because it's us I doubt we would get any help from the NRL. We don't really have any choice but to use the cap to make us as competitive as possible - that's why I said we should just move on. As for Seaward, I think he's doing a fine job.

I don't think Hayne being successful or failing says anything about the NRL. How many NFL players have made it in League? They are two very different beasts and we don't need Hayne to succeed to validate that many NRL players are supreme athletes. Hayne failing in the NFL doesn't make him any less of a great talent either - we all know he's one of the best athletes to ever lace on a boot already.

Hayne failing may not say much, but Hayne succeeding would say a lot. He was a superstar in the NRL, despite what the knockers have said in the last few years. And he was OUR superstar. And even though I agree that many NRL players are supreme athletes, it hasn't been proven yet. Hayne making it would go a fair way towards doing so.

NRL players are supreme athletes but league has a fair endurance component that American fußball doesn't. The fact that a league player needs to be suited to that as well as speed, agility and power (and sustained strength in the wrestle) means they are likely too well rounded athletically for stop-start NFL.

But Hayne is certainly better suited to the NFL than most (all?) NRL players. The only who would go close would be Jennings, who seems well suited to running back.

I reckon he has the football intelligence to make it as well. But with nfl it just takes a few fumbles or an injury and suddenly you're climbing back from the bottom of the heap again.

Yeh, and the nature of the contracts that players like Hayne sign are quite different to what we are used to. Many are in effect a week to week deal, that specifies the salary and stops the player from going to a different team, but none of the salary is guaranteed beyond the work done (i.e. they can cut you and do not have to pay out the rest of the year's salary).

If I'm a master of anything I suppose it's security. I help merkins stay safe.

And I've got a tip for you Gronk. Stop asking stupid questions, merkin.

Talking about security. A relative of mine flew out to West Africa today. He's in that business.
