It means he has a 15 to 20 week contract. He just said it on Foxsports. After that they can cut him. I'm happy for him. SF is a great city.

20 weeks guaranteed from April? That rules him out for most of 2015, assuming we don't have to re-register him before round 13

Right as much of a Hayne fan as I am....can we now not see anything for at least a month!

Been a little too much press & hype for a trial contract.

It wasn't the lifestyle that swayed him. It was the new coach who has had exposure to rugby players whilst coaching NFL in Europe (?). He feels that the transition will be easier with someone who gets him.

Good luck to Hayne. sF is an awesome place. Went there last year. Want to go back. I'd happily live there

My understanding re the contract situation is that there is a final 53 man roster. Normally about 40 or so are under contract . JH then has to compete with say 50 recruits for the final 10 spots. As players get cut etc , they then move from club to club making the competition pretty fierce

He certainly has the athletic attributes to do well, but I don't think anyone has made the jump from another sport into the NFL unless hey were in one of the kicking roles. Going to be a very interesting journey, and I think may get to try out for more than one team as he searches for a roster spot. Don't forget he is going against players who have played rhe sport since they were 8, and know how to interpret the play books
