I couldn't be happier.

Problem is, now I'm gonna be mistaken for some bandwagon Niners fan who only started going for them since Jarryd went there.

If he plays a game, I will get a 'Hayne' jersey though.

Yeah, pretty stoked here. But the jersey, where would you ever wear it? I have an Eels jersey (thanks ME, come back, eh) and the only time I've ever worn it was to watch the game.

Happy for jarryd, however I don't think he did enough research on the niners. Jim tomsula has only just been made new coach, and date say he doesn't instil many with confidence. Just watch this interview, he makes Anthony mundine sounds articulate

He seems like a guy who just won a pub raffle to coach an nfl side lol

Also, I'm hoping this doesn't mean SF are looking to not re-sign Frank Gore.
I doubt it does, but they could be looking at Hayne to weigh up this option.

If they do re-sign him though, Hayne's competition for the RB spot would be:

Frank Gore - 31 years old. Niners legend, and their all-time rushing leader. A 5-time Pro Bowler. 20th on the list of NFL's all-time rushing leaders with 11,073 yards. 64 TD's. Career average of 4.5 yards per carry.

Carlos Hyde - 23 years old. Just finished his rookie season as the second-choice RB behind Gore. Is being groomed as Gore's replacement after he retires/leaves. Averaged 4 yards per carry, and finished with 4 TD's.

Kendall Hunter - 26 years old. Quite a bit smaller than Hayne at 5'7" and 90kg, but has been able to average 4.6 yards per carry through being quick and nimble, slotting through gaps and bursting through. Spent last season on the injured list after tearing his ACL.

Of course there will be other free agents and maybe another rookie to contend with as well.
Hayne's chances of making it would increase if Gore isn't retained, but then he would miss the chance of learning from one of the NFL's best.

I already have a jersey - a number 7 Colin Kaepernick (not the one I would have chosen, but it was a gift from my Mum so I can't complain). I'm already planning on buying another (probably Patrick Willis or Frank Gore).
I wear them when I watch Niners games every week, and when I'm in the US.

Funnily enough, I actually wear my Eels jerseys around more in the US than I do over here. I only wear them when I go to games in Australia, but over there I just wear them around everywhere. I'm spreading the word of the Eels.

He ain't gonna play running back in a hurry mate.

Special teams at a big push in 2015/16.

But for him to make it onto a roster for special teams, he will need to be at least a 3rd-string RB (or something else). There's no use taking up a spot on a 53-man roster for a bloke who can only return kicks, unless he is just f**king amazing at it. There aren't many kick return specialists in the NFL. The 49ers use Bruce Ellington and Carlos Hyde to return kicks/punts, both of who play other positions efficiently (WR and RB respectively).

I would see him more as a 7th string receiver (emergency slot receiver) at this stage. If he plays in the backfield he will be restricted to catching short passes to the outside. He's not taking hand-offs from the QB this year.
