all good bro, i've had a few Chardonnays this arvo lol

just super happy for the guy, and it's my NRL team he walked out on

It's my NFL team hes trying to make lol.

I've been blown away by how well Hayne has played. I'm certainly not bagging him out and I loved his big hit on Rose. A good running back should fancy their chances at putting solid contact on a cb. They tend to be smaller. He did exactly what was expected of him.

It's going to be interesting for him this year. The niners have issues on the offensive line and they are up against some solid defences. So if Hayne takes any plays it might be a steep learning curve and that's a knock on the niners as a whole not Hayne.

Thanks guys!

Congrats mate, girls are great. I've actually got a boy due in 4 weeks, forgot that one of the perks of my 6 weeks off will be watching my other Raiders go round.

My son is 22 months old and boy are you for a treat with boys. So much fun! Me and him just hang out constantly playing with cars, trucks, wrestling around. Its great.

Not sure how ill cope with a girl, but ill figure it out!

I'm also getting sick of the "he's facing 3rd stringers" argument.

These "3rd stringers" are also guys who have been brought up with the game and would have been high school and college standouts at some point.

Hayne is doing well no matter how you look at it. Sure it's going to be harder come the regular season, but he still has the ability to drop and side step the best out there.

He has my team first up, the Vikings, and I'm super curious see what he does to some of our defenders.

it's a legit comment

it's just on every forum/twitter feed/facebook post etc. in the english speaking world

Hayne is one of the top athletes in the world so on one hand we shouldn't be too surprised at what he has done to this point. The regular season, against starters, is the next step. He is improving at a very fast rate so let's see if he can keep it up and see if he gets a chance to keep it up by getting playing time. Hopefully he is the starting punt returner and can start making his case for more minutes there.

He is way better than the 3rd stringers though which is the point. You can only compare him with who he has played but he has deadset dominated some of those blokes.

to me what is most impressive is how much he's improved even from pre season wk 1 to 4. He looked absolutely abominable between the tackles in his first 3 games, but then in the last game, albeit against spuds, he really made some nice plays in a crowd. The aussie media wents nuts for his 54 yard run but honestly all he did was make one guy miss on a bad angle... so the next week he has IMO an even better run, a 34 yarder where he hit a smaller hole, stiff armed a defender and got the edge for a big gain... week 3 was a little disappointing but then in week 4, i think he had his best run, that 12 (or was it more?) yard run between the tackles where he read the blocks well, made a great cut and then made someone miss for extra yardage... i mean that's progressive improvement week to week as a RB.

Again it was against spuds mostly but he's it's less about what he does and more about how he did it for me. His return game speaks for itself but as an RB, i am really surprised, impressed and excited at how much he's grown in such a short time

soooooo many comments on soooooooo many of the hundred videos on youtube of his offensive hit yesterday saying that he could have kept on going once he trucked the shit out of that CB, regardless of the 2 other guys coming across in coverage.

yeah it's only a pre-season match, but the fact that he picked up the first down, with interest, and took/dished out the hit to then safely go out of bounds with the pill, says (to me) that he is also a student of the game, in that he isn't worried about how many yards he makes, let's just get the first down, reset, and proceed from there.

in just 4 matches, that in the big scheme of things, don't really count for much other than the individual players trying to impress, he seems to have a mature NFL brain inside that helmet.

People are stupid
He wasn't going anywhere after that hit, well covered, got the first down, laid the pipe, got out of bounds. Job well done

.

i'll be hoping hayne fair catches when he plays the rams. he will learn quickly to fair catch if nothing is there from the get go. once the real games start the wood comes out.

he is well equipped to get hit catching the ball with his background, obviously, but not with a helmet at full speed. it will be very interesting to see what happens. although nfl players aren't used to seeing players as big as him with a good side step. can't wait to see him in action.

Awesome news for Hayne. Ddin't expect him to make the squad this fast. Thought he'd spend at least one season in the practice squad.

Looking forward to seeing him an action in a real game, also hope that 7 don't shove niners down our throat every week....
