Funny how some people here blame the media on one instance and then take their side when their Agenda suits them. Yes Gronk you're one of the merkins I'm referring to.

It just gets worse and worse. Funny thing is that some of the players allegedly receiving these payments haven't exactly performed on the field.

Very interesting comment from Ross Smart about how money was the only tie to the club.

The blame is Spags. Kate McClymont's (SMH) role in this has not been questioned at all.

Raaaay is a knob, but we knew that anyway.

Nice spin away from your mate Spags, but fail.

But you're king of defelection / spin. You've been blaming the media for the last two months and then all of the sudden you jump on the media bandwagon when it suits. You're a hypocrite......."But but the media"

My gripe was always that the media (in particular News Ltd) sensationalize anything about the Eels because we get the clicks or sell papers. I am not Robinson Crusoe here merkin.

Today's news is not sensationalized and just the findings of a investigative journo. Very hard to blame her. The only gripe I have about the articles is that we're very much in the dark about the NRL's position and if Spags has got us in trouble.

You've not shared your views on todays news. Are you able to give us your take on things without the use of sarcasm or any of these -->  <-- ?

There is no such thing as non-registered TPAs from what I understand.

Well, sort of. A player does not have to declare all non-football income to the NRL. A player would, for instance, earn interest on funds on deposit...this is not a TPA.

So a player could, for example, be receiving money as the beneficiary of a long-standing family trust. This is not a TPA. But, of course, some smarty pants could channel funds from what really is a TPA through a similar entity.

Picked TPA's as being the isssue behind Hoppa's contract delays a few weeks ago.
Everyone still blaming the current admin for trying to change the deal?

The biggest scandal is that someone payed 18k to that dud Luke Burt, he should have payed the club 18k for letting him hang around with footballers.

Jake, the journalist Kate McClymont went out of her way over several radio interviews to state that this is not the fault of the current administration In fact, she said that they had brought the matter up with relevant people, and that they were doing everything possible to sort things out, and deserved some sympathy for getting on the front foot with it all

The media issue is around the fact that Eels news is sensationalised, and others is consigned to the no too much interest basket even when it is basically the same issue ( read Tigpies, Beagles and even the Rorters and the AVO thing)

Raay just continued on his normal rant that DF was the best thing that happened to the club , and then tried to join as many dots as possible to blame new people at the club for past mistakes, he really does take the cake for agenda driven garbage, again showed no interest when she said another club would be brought to task next issue

The other difference between this and a Kent/Hooper article is that there is not "I can't reveal my sources" anywhere to be seen.

Spags showing his good governance and stuff

And the only thing the Storm did wrong was not inform the NRL.

It appears to be an attempt to cheat the cap

No it appears to be a scheme another poster referred to a couple of days ago.

Jarryd, why would you use the cousin of the property developer you are giving money to to be your accountant?

Because player managers are squealing cos their clients are not getting paid. Kate said Spags did these deals on hand shakes. No paperwork whatsoever.

hmmmm...................Kate said huh ?

No paperwork either ?

And people wonder why I am skeptical especially when Eels and sell more newspapers and clickbait than any other NRL team.

If there's any journalist I trust, it is Kate McClymont.

The #NRL has announced it will investigate allegations that undisclosed third party payments have been made to players at @TheParraEels.

NRL will investigate allegations that undisclosed third party payments have been made to players at the Parramatta club.
Head of Integrity Nick Weeks said salary cap auditors will take up the matter, disclosed in the Sydney Morning Herald today, with the Parramatta club.

“The salary cap is one of the main reasons we have the closest sporting competition in Australia,” Mr Weeks said.
“We have already shown that we are prepared to take a hard line against breaches and these allegations will be investigated by the salary cap auditors.”
Mr Weeks said the recent salary cap penalties and conditions imposed on the Parramatta club would give the NRL enhanced access to player remuneration records.
“If these allegations are confirmed then the NRL will take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the competition,” he said.
