Well it all depends on what the NRL find. Remember their thorough investigation onto the Broncos?

Most of the people identified in this story are now ex -employees of the club, which means the NRL have no power to compel them to talk.

Thank you, yes. Try getting Spagnolo and Obeid Jnr to talk.

2016 Competition table.

Parramatta:

Played: 0
Wins: 0
Draws: 0
Losses: 0
Points: -4

could be minus 8

be dodgy to punish them for something that allegedly happened a few yeas ago and has nothing to do with the current roster or board

And that we came last anyway.

Having said that the Warriors started from -4 a few years ago for a self reported breach, right ?

I agree to an extent.
A rape or murder that happened in the 70's, is still a rape or murder.

both the storm and dogs were punished in the year the breaches were uncovered...same should apply to us...ill take the spoon
not our fault we were shit for all those years with the extra $$$, they should be consistent and not punish our future

I believe the threat to lose 4 points next year is if the Eels do not undertake the independent audit as requested by the NRL.

This story, if true and proven, and identified this year, could result in a loss of points for this season.

I disagree.
If we were seen to have cheated in ANY season, we should suffer the consequences, and any penalty forthcoming.
I don't care whether we have a new Board or not.
Cheating is cheating.
And yes, it IS our fault we were shit for all those years. Who else's fault is it?

I doubt the NRL will have this sorted out by the end of August...

I really don't see it being that much of a salary cap issue to be honest. It will flow onto the governance issues. And these issues stem from people no longer involved at the club. Got to have faith that people at the club at the moment don't have the "great business acumen" of other people

Agreed.
It certainly comes under "governance" issues, but ultimately, it will be seen to be what it might have been - an allegation of an attempt at cheating the salary cap.
It will now play out however it does. I would not though, be at all surprised, if the NRL take a very dim view of these allegations, and hence, we suffer some serious consequences.

I don't think that 'salary cap issues' and 'governance issues' are mutually exclusive though. This potentially both, and if we've been paying players outside of the cap, one would expect some sort of comeuppance. If these allegation pertained to, say, the Rooters, I would think that people would rightly expect a penalty to be imposed if it is found that the payments were a deliberate attempt to circumvent the cap.

Sorry you missed my point...its obviously our fault that we were shit, but the NRL should not look at that and think that because we were shit, we have nothing to lose (no premierships or current finals to miss out on ala Storm and Bulldogs) and punish us for next season....There should be consistency....Take away our points this season and give us the spoon and next season we start fresh
This way we are still punished, as we should be, but also consistently with prior offenders

These problems come from decisions made 3 to 4 years ago under a different administration, the media just love to suggest it is all current

We need to take a chill pill, and understand there is little that the people currently in charge could have done. The one hope I have is that they start to look more closely at those with rosters that look dodgy, their day will come

According to Kate M, it could be when she next goes to print.

i think the only thing they could do is what they have done and refused to continue the dodgy payments

kate mcclymont was on triple m and said there was another club they were looking into so stay tuned
