I wouldn’t say it was conflict. Nrown2 had ambitions to coach in the NRL, but all we could offer was pathways and NRLW. For someone of his experience, it’s understandable that it wouldn’t be very appealing. For someone who doesn’t have to work it makes sense that retiring to the Gold Coast would be a better option. Putting NRL media type interpersonal melodrama around it is unfounded and unnecessary. I just don’t think Nathan Brown is the type to throw his toys out of the cot, even if he did slap Trent Barrett.
I agree. I don’t think he’s the type to throw his toys out of the cot. I absolutely think BA is though.

There are assumptions in your response, so I’ll add my own. Their positions became untenable and the powers that be obviously sided with the head coach over a pathway employee.

Well then I have an idea as well. If leaving for the Goldie is putting your family first, then moving back to Sydney 6 months later is putting them second.
For sure, but the fact remains he did move them to the Gold Coast and then bring them back. Brad Arthur didn’t force them to move up there.
At the time moving to the Goldie and working with Des may have been a real option. That didn’t happen, but he went from having a decent gig at the eels to suddenly heading up north with nothing concrete lined up. Doesn’t sound like the career move of someone who wants to stay relevant in rugby league circles.
No it doesn’t, but that’s what he did. There’s other clubs in Sydney. Plenty more than there are on the Gold Coast. And if he wasn’t good enough for the Titans why should we want him?
For mine it points to someone that was pushed out of the eels for whatever reason.
Pushed a very long way out of Parramatta. Do we really have the power to relocate someone?
The fact he’s back within 6 months with only one key change to the staff with any influence suggests pretty heavily to me that said person played a part in his departure.
I think that’s just confirmation bias. If he’d stayed in Sydney I would say you’re likely right. The move to the QLD border is the elephant in the room. That’s a proper dummy spit just because an NRL coach couldn’t find a spot for you on his staff. I just don’t see it. There’s eight other Sydney clubs that couldn’t find a spot for him either, plus the Titans and two other clubs within driving distance of the Gold Coast.
It is no less plausible than relying on a 12 month old quote in relation to leaving a previous employer as the reason for leaving your new employer. That’s absurd.
He didn’t just leave his employer, he sold his house and moved away from the majority of the NRL coaching jobs. The fact he is back so soon tells me he is very lucky his mate got the head coaching job.

I don’t think so. Someone lacking self control like that wouldn’t have lasted this long as a coach, especially not with a ‘bean counter’ CEO. We don’t need to project these childish traits onto a man loved by his players and with demonstrable NRL success.

It’s possible, but again, these guys are professionals. I just think Nrown2 wanted to join an NRL coaching staff instead of dickarsing around in Joey Grima’s old job. There were no openings at Parramatta, or anywhere else. Nrown2 moved to the Gold Coast with an eye to retirement, and put out feelers with Hasler, who didn’t need him either. Then his mate Ryles got the head coaching gig here and Nrown2 got another opportunity, so his retirement plans were shelved.

The truth Nrown had stuff all interaction with BA, but had a good relationship with him. Brown even gave BA a reference to Leeds for their background checks. Nrown contacts from his time in the UK reached out to him.

He actually left because of a fall out MON.

He agreed to take on a coaching role with the eels NRLW on the understanding he wouId get the head role in 2024

But the club then decided to go with Steve Georgallis. This was announced on the 22 November.

Nrown, quit the day before on 21 November, when he was blindsided and told he wouldn't be appointed. He was pissed off, as he thought he was going to get it.

He is only coming back to help his great mate Ryles.

This is no less plausible than relying on facebook rumours.

You’re putting far too much relevance on the Gold Coast move. It’s almost irrelevant to this discussion and the only reason it’s even being talked about is that you’re using “family reasons” from a 12 month old quote, that had nothing to do with moving up there, as the motive for his eels exit.

NRL coaching and admin gigs don’t come up on seek on a weekly basis, so perhaps his best prospect at the time was the Titans. He could have been renting up there for all we know to see if it’s something they could do long term. If he didn’t have a gig at the eels he didn’t have much to lose and he could always move back (which it looks like he’s done).

Moving to the Gold Coast isn’t this major life decision.

That’s a plausible assumption of events as well. No more or less than the alternative. That’s all I’m saying. There are strong arguments for both. Have you got sources for those statements you quote as fact at the top of your post?

It’s more that he moved away from Sydney without a job that shows his motivation. He didn’t get one while he was on the Gold Coast either. I’m thinking the only reason he came back was to help his mate, rather than that he was desperate to work on an NRL coaching staff. He has previously said he wants to help a young coach keep his job.

This makes the most sense. Nrown2 doesn’t need to work, so he likely only wants a job that is personally satisfying.

He is also on record in that same article as saying he wants to work with younger players. It would seem that the eels gig aligned pretty well with where we wanted to be. The fact he left fairly quickly after taking the role seems odd.

So that's simply your opinion, and not fact...

No worries, we understand. But keep on arguing ad nauseum with anyone who has a different opinion to you, because that's how you (t)roll.

So where is this top part of you post a quote from?

Where does it say he was promised the head NRLW job?

Also I thought Brown only wanted to help a young coach no become the head coach again you need to go back and re read your posts..

There’s ‘younger players’ in the full time squad and then there’s ‘younger players’ playing and training part time in the pathways, most of whom will never even play reserve grade. Nrown2’s interest is in the NRL squad.

"I'd like to work with younger players, and help with list management," he told 9News.

"Help coach younger players and help younger coaches... help put a list together for a (NRL) top 30, help someone stay employed."

I don’t necessarily disagree with him returning to help JR, but again, it has little relevance to why he left in the first place.
Because he wasn’t needed here in the type of job he wanted. I was surprised when I heard him interviewed by one of the podcasters how it seemed he was just doing odd jobs around the club. I got the impression he thought it was beneath him. I certainly thought it was. I have never seen anything to suggest he had interpersonal issues with anyone.

Well he did a splendid job across 11 years do you blame them.

52% win rate

1 GF Appearance which was over after 10 mins.

4 finals wins from 12.

1 wooden spoon.

Brought in his 2 sons through the junior reps and forced them both to pack up and go elsewhere.

With all those numbers it's a wonder he doesn't have a statue built outside the new COE at Kellyville.
