I am excited. I’m just not sure we have the purchasing power to match the big boys if we go with a low risk recruitment strategy. We might just find ourselves a poor man’s Penrith, like the Dogs. They might’ve been better than us this year but it’s the first time since 2018.

Better be the f**ken last too!

External Expectation will be low which will help.

I can't imagine most in the media tipping us to finish above 13th.

Not sure about that.....I reckon once we near the season start, and the numerous articles come out about the hardest pre season ever under the next supercoach ryles. ...with the arguably best halves pairing in the comp.....the expectations will be pretty high.

Realistically I think we're a 9th-12th placed side next season in most people's eyes - with a faint hope of sneaking as high as 6th, if things go really well, no bad injuries etc.

I dont think we go near top 10

Reg gone, most likely Gutho as well

Two of our main leaders gone, in a side that was already lacking leaders

Think we will get exposed quite a bit unfortunately..

Yeah the realistic view in me thinks anything above 12th would be a good result considering the open heart surgery Ryles has had to do with the roster.

The loss of Gutho will be felt when injuries come along in the spine and we just don't have adequate backup in those areas. Were basically relying on Moses/Drown to play nearly every game if we want to push for finals next year.

We lost our last 12 games without Gutho by an average of 20 points when he was here.

Iongi is the future no doubt & will bring much needed speed & pace but there will be more ups and downs then the consistency Gutho brought which will have to be ironed out as he gets more experience.

RCG loss will be felt even more if Paulo doesn't pull his finger out and has another ordinary season.

Ill be more inclined to look at how were going to be defensively & attitude under Ryles.

That's more of a KPI for me next year.

Assuming 11. Tuilagi , 12. Cartwright, I think this is a good enough middle to be very competitive:

Hopgood
Lane
Matterson
Ofahengaue
Paulo
Williams

That leaves these merkins to battle for the final bench spot:

Doorey
Greig
Guymer
Mataele
Moretti
Pryke
Tuivati

Finishing 12th or so next year, really isn't that great, its pretty poor season I reckon....it is only 3 more wins than this year.....and we are adding 3 current Origin players to the 17 (Moses, Hopgood, who didn't play after origin, plus Lomax).....plus the additional squad additions/changes....

So do you think our attack will be better or worse?

If that's your KPI, anything lower than 10th or so will be a fail....assuming our attack is as good as this year.....

Improving our defence by just 6 points per game, which I am assuming is around the minimum improvement you are expecting, gives us the 9th best defence with 8th best attack this year...

Will Parra let King Gutho depart? Papenhuyzen is going to market to ascertain his value since he is not accepting the Storms 750k deal.

Players can benefit depending on the market at time in negotiating with other clubs to get top dollar.

Be different if a number of quality fullbacks were available

Fullbacks available to sign from November 1 for 2026.

Corey Allan, Tom Chester, Kade Dykes, Clayton Faulalo, Clinton Gutherson, Albert Hopoate, William Kennedy, Daine Laurie, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Will Pryce, Sean Russell, James Tedesco, Reece Walsh, Blake Wilson

I want to see improvement in defence what we do in attack is basically irrelevant.

History is a big indicator and unless your Top 4 in defence then 80% chance you won't be winning the comp.

You get the defence sorted your are well on your way to winning a premiership.

Look at the Roosters & Manly this year awesome in attack but come finals time they got swallowed up and flogged because of there shit defence. What they had in attack was redundant in the end.

Since 1998 the two seasons 2005 & 2001 were the years teams who won the comp weren't in the top 8 in defence. Ironically that was also the years we were ranked 1st.

Brian Smith had us consistently in top 4 in defence for majority of his tenure and while we didn't win a comp we were certainly in with a shot by making it to the preliminary final on a regular basis.

It will be the same pack + Jack, so Sam Moa better have a magic attitude wand.
Sounds like your already taking pot shots at this new regime & they haven't even step foot onto the field yet for a training session.

We had 11 years of above average, below par to downright unacceptable performances in defence.
