Yeah I doubt we are moving Merkins on if the coach didn't have a say.

But play on..
Nobody said the coach doesn't have a say, especially retention (or not) of existing players. The list management group would want to avoid giving him players he doesn't want. But as I've said before, if the coach keeps turning his nose up at signings/retentions because they aren't good enough, he could find himself with only half a squad. If you've got cap space and no stars to spend it on, you need to bring in the likes of Hodgson, Harper and Ofahengaue. You might never get a Moses or Lomax for a price you can afford.

Wouldn’t rust our list management group to even make a list. You can faff over them as much as you want, they have failed for 4 years and should be on a very short leash , if on one at all.
They re-signed some high performers who stopped performing. Lane and Matterson, for example, are only 30 years old. Paulo is 31.

Here's what I said about Hodgson:

25-Oct-21:
He's good when the Raiders are good and bad when they're not.

10-Dec-21:
Signing Hodgson is a risk given his age, in that he might be unavailable too often to provide value for his price.

Hardly justifying the signing as 'great'. Instead I was justifying it as an option, both before and after he was announced. It just made sense. There was some risk there, as there is with most signings. But there was also the potential to get a smart, experienced dummy half at a decent price.

We’re now favourites for the wooden spoon. Ryles is clearly safe this year, but let’s be honest—there have been factors like our so-called elite recruitment team and the injury toll. So what’s the pass mark for next season? Because if it’s another spoon or bottom three finish, he could be gone. No matter how unfair or radical it sounds. Two spoons in a row, then he actually deserves it.

This whole situation is starting to reek of Stephen Kearney deja vu—especially if we get belted at home by the Titans on Sunday, which I’m fully expecting.

Favourites for the wooden spoon AND paying 4th highest for winning the GF.

I wasn't fan of his signing but want him (and the club) to succeed together . Id say every eels fan is together in this.

But its a good point of discussion, considering where we are on the ladder.

If we are in a similar position this time next year then there is massive concerns absolutely

To me blowing the place up, learning and implementing new systems, not replacing quality leaders was always going to be hard yakka climbing the ladder. Throw in Moses playing half a season these days and Brown asleep in some games,

Of course it a great point of discussion. Nobody predicted our season to come to the end by mid June. It’s a disgrace.

Definitely giving off Kearney mk2 vibes.

Kearney won his first game with us and the. Went on to win another 5 all year which we got progressively worse.

We haven't fielded a full strength side this year. Lots of young, inexperienced players. Definitely spoon contenders for this season unfortunately.

I agree that a bottom three finish again next year will be disastrous.

Yep 6 wins and a draw. Ryles a good chance of coming up short of that.
