Bud. Captain and half back. Hunt to hooker as he awaits an offer that is great for the club and good enough for him.
Can you imagine if we made JDB captain… the media would go bananas and so would a lot of the supporters and most importantly potential sponsorsMy pick is Su’a. Consistently one of our best players and he would have the respect of the team. No to JDB. I can’t fault his commitment but it would just stir up more headlines and that’s the last thing we need right now
For what it's worth I like Blake Lawrie for the gig. He's 26 now, played 100+ games, he seems to have the respect and admiration of the playing group and his contribution to the team is vastly underrated. Good little mention of his work on the RL Writers page last week, worth checking out:
Take the Two NRL Round 15: Melbourne playing to a plan, Garrick at centre & SJ’s World - Rugby League Writers
Few teams in the NRL play to a plan as well as the Melbourne Storm can.rugbyleaguewriters.com
Also worth hearing him in this video the club posted about the junior academy. He's obviously passionate about the joint and takes the job of being a leader seriously
Inside the Dragons academy
The Dragons recently held a special training session for over 60 athletes from both the Illawarra Steelers and St George Dragons junior reps systems.www.dragons.com.au
Absolutely anyone else.your suggestion ?
not a lot to choose from
The only ones I’ve seen talking to refs are Bird, Lomax, Liddle, Mbye & Amone which leaves us very light on.As long as they have the gift of the Gab
everyone thought Frizz was going to be a good skipper , but he couldnt converse with the Ref

AgreedWe are very light on bro.
If Liddle had a few years under his belt with us, and had been given more game time by Hook, he would be my choice.
Can play long mins, spine player and as you noted , confronts the refs when need be.
I'm sure Flanno will sort something out in 2024....who knows if Hunt goes it may be the cherry on top to entice a new body from outside the club the role
Brilliant! Swap Hunt for Reynolds!Didn't Reynolds go from Souths junior and 10 year servant to Captain the Broncos ? He's a leader..
Could keep Sua at the club whilst waiting for Flanagan to take over.Lomax or Sua for me.

Mate , won’t be on the field for 40% of the game and he struggles to put 4 or 5 words together so motivating the team will be a struggle. For what it's worth I like Blake Lawrie for the gig. Would also show ( yet again ! ) how out of touch the football management & board is in its bubble. Can’t happen.
Would be a total disaster & the icing on the cake for our year.
Frizz was too busy touching the refsAs long as they have the gift of the Gab

Very true my friendDidn't Reynolds go from Souths junior and 10 year servant to Captain the Broncos ? He's a leader..
Ben Creagh was atrocious. Sides often reflect the character of the captain, and Creagh’s sides ran away when they were getting bashed (I’ll never get over the embarrassment of Willie Mason sledging the entire pack). Under Creagh’s reign our side lost their toughness, and they’ve never really found it again. It's the problem with handing the captaincy to mercenaries, instead of clubmen. People have the audacity to claim Ben Creagh was a bad captain - I say he was twice the skipper of Widdop and Hunt combined
