NRL are experts at looking to do something without really doing it.

Instead of getting rid of the scumbags they potentially ban an innocent player for 3 years

Yep, Lodge has no drama getting back in and the sport had seen a convicted murderer playing the game which ive mentioned before.

Political correctness is exactly what it is. You cant argue they are taking this stance to protect the game and sponsors and then argue this has nothing to do with political correctness. If there were no threat to the game, the money from the backlash, then they would not have done anything at all.

Argue the game is taking a moral stance, they are drawing a line in the sand etc etc but im sure we all know this isnt about something so honorable, its about money and protecting their interests from a backlash of opinion causing sponsors to leave the game, less interest in the game and therefore less tv money.

Political correctness.

Sure. Here you go.

"Political correctness (adjectivally: politically correct; commonly abbreviated PC) is a term used to describe language, policies, or measures that are intended to avoid offense or disadvantage to members of particular groups in society."

This "policy" from the nrl is designed to avoid offense to a particular group in society. By allowing jdb to continue playing in the nrl whilst his guilt is being determined, that would and was, causing offense and a backlash in certain community cohorts. Which is why this policy was enacted.

This policy was not brought in to rub unsavoury characters from the game, but to save face.

Poster above said the policy was to avoid damage to the game. What damage to the game would be done if the NRL said jdb was entitled to his day in court and if found guilty he will be de-registered?

I think you'll have a hung jury here every time, however many times they run it, unless they pack the jury with women.

No, in the NRL.

We are all ears.

If you're talking about Craig Field it was after the fact and it was manslaughter.

Who are the particular members of society that the NFSD rule is catering to?

Law-abiding citizens? Those entitled jerks.

All just an image thing. To go to sponsors and say look at us cleaning the game up

If they really cared there would be some players kicked out of the game

Even using Field is a massive stretch& a complete distortion of facts. He was sentenced in 2014 & his last NRL game was in 2001.

PC or good business? Id suggest its the latter! NRL dont really give a sht about upsetting anyone, unless it leads to negative outcomes for the business.

Have they ever said their motivations for it?
Seems to me that 'we dont want someone facing a rape charge in the public eye as an NRL player as it is a sht look and we would get crucified if he played for 2 years, represented state and country and was then found guilty', would be an obvious and legit reason lol
