It's more to do with the juniors culture down here I think.
We take a lot of pride in our juniors down here and many of these kids start getting noticed by us fans at quite a young age (some times as young as 15-16). So sometimes a gun player comes along, often not from the best circumstances and and suddenly he is being treated like he is more important then other people and told he is the best in the world and suddenly he can get pretty much whatever he wants. Pretty quickly some of these kids start to grow a huge ego and start to think that they are irreplaceable and then one thing turns into another and before you know it he has ended up as another Dugan or Carney.
Of course this is not always the case when you have blokes like Fensom, Croker, Sammy Williams, etc. etc. Who come through this same system and turn out to be some of the nicest, most humble guys you could meet (particularly Fensom, I have nothing but good things to say about him, on or off the field).
