I hope someone at WT is making the serious examination of the chances of Tuiaki recovering from the injury and actually being able to play at the standard he was playing before it happened. I'd hate to miss opportunity to make an offer with Inu (or any other backline player) in the believe things will come good with Tuiaki, it doesnt and WT miss out on good players.

Thats going to be very hard to determine his long term prospects, the club cant even evaluate a simple strain injury accuaratly... We see 1 an 2 week injuries lasting 4 . In any event it will be a hard call to axe tnt and not show some loyalty, he has been awesome for the club and has been pretty injury free while he has been with us.

Whats the deal with rooster comb injections? Lol maybe East will pay good money to get him, specialy if he starts growing feathers because then if he doesnt come good he can still be their mascot.

Macnaz- fully agree with the loyalty thing but I'm worried about the salary dollars being coralled. Any idea if contracts allow for decreasing payments if long term injury?

I reckon we need a kicker- if Tuiaki is not fit and there is no short to medium term prospects of this happening then we should amke a bit for Inu as there would be space in the first squad of 13 for a winger with the rest of the backline positions taken.

Halves- I'm presuming positions taken with Moltzen & Marshall.

Forwards- there could be a slot for a goal kicking backrow forward in the starting 13. Presuming safe- front rowers, hooker and lock plus 1 x second row with Ellis. I think Heighington's position in the main squad is not assured and may already be under pressure from Flanagan.

Hino was very ordinary last year but has been pretty damn good this year. You'd be hard pressed to find a lock forward that's playing better. Only Gallen and Myles are comparable on this year's form.

Agree mostly but I figure if we have to fit a goal kicker into the team (and we desperately do need one rather than 55% Benji). it would seem backrower is the most obvious position

Well not if the player is worse than the guy he's replacing! How many back-rowers kick goals anyway? And Flanagan is not putting any pressure on Hino, unless I'm watching different games.

Fair point but somewhere something has to give if WT want to include a dedicated goal kicker for 2011.

Sounds terrible (and I dont mean it to so) but if Tuiaki doesnt make it back to the wing WT have an opportunity with an obvious vacancy to make a good offer to hopefully get Inu for the 'vacant' wing position in the main 13 squad. If Tuiaki does make a comeback WT will have to make a hard decision to let someone go to create a vacancy for the kicker and as I said backrow is probably the one area where WT have a surfeit of capable players.

Our main 13 (with all fit except for Tuiaki as the example) WT could have:

Ryan, Tuqiri, Lawrence, Ayshford, (?), Marshall, Moltzen, Heighington, Fulton, Ellis, Galloway, Farah, Gibbs.

That’s a pretty good line up but with no obvious quality kicker. If Tuiaki comes back in who goes to create a spot, and more importantly, what upcoming available goal kickers are capable of playing in the position WT deem to vacate for the player?

It is much easier to recruit the goal kicker and create the vacancy in the position he can play.

Who else is available in 2011 that can kick quality goals apart from Inu?

Cam Smith.

By the way, has Thurston dropped his asking price since the Storm flooded the market with Qld Origin players?

Just read in the Telegraph Tuiaki's contract's up at the end of this year. Maybe there will be some sleepless nights in the near future figuring out best options for WT.

a/ remain hopeful Tuiaki can recover his fitness and form for 2011 and renew contract offer.

b/ Make a strong offer for Inu to replace Tuiaki in the wing and be WT main kicker.

I'm a fan of TNT, but if dropping him to pick up Inu is an option, I say we do it.

Smith's goalkicking isn't much better than Benji's, and he's too expensive to sign to play as halfback.

Unfortunately I reckon that would seem to be the best option- it would allow WT to make a good play for Inu if the deicison has already been made and we get in quick.

I really, really like Tuiaki but geez I have severe doubts he will be able to recover from the injury to the standard he was before it happened and WT desperately need a quality kicker. It seems the obvious solution.

Is there any inside info as to the extent of Tuikai's injury and subsequent progress? I heard informally that the fracture was complicated and quite horrific and that even getting him back to the point of running in a straight line would be a considerable achievement.

At 28 and 110kgs it all sounds rather grim.

Much as I love TNT, I'd take Inu tomorrow.

TNT was never quick, this injury will only make him slower.

I wouldn't be surprised that he comes back and plays as a back rower, meaning we'd still need an extra winger.

I doubt Inu is on huge dollars, so maybe we'd only need to piss off someone like Fitzy to ensure we have enough coin for Inu.

If memory serves me well today I recall Fitzhhenry is only signed for 2010. Again, as much as I respect him for past achievements, playing for WT and being part of the 05 winning team I have to say its time to move past his name in a NRL standard team for 2011.

He cans till contribute to the game- he could go down to the State Cup level or go into admin / recruiting- he is a nice guy and could still serve WT well- just not in the NRL squad.
