Jersey Thread

Convincing a corporate marketing team to change the colour of their logo is like trying to convince a vampire to come for a walk in the sun. They will defend every pixel and element of their branding to the death. Everyone knows it looks like shit, but it'll be in the sponsorship contract for sure.

Also having it green undeniably makes it stand out more, ergo more prominent brand placement (and better bang for your buck in the sponsorship). Long story short, you're not telling the Knights (or NIB for that matter) anything they don't already know regarding the clashing colours on the jersey. It's by design.

Simple white logo on the jersey just looks so much better and doesn't diminish with either their branding or the jersey.

Keep the horrible green logo for the away kit.

Put it on the stripes and see how it looks. I'd say you're a higher chance of getting ryans mockup on the main jersey. Our stripes kinda necessitate having a seperate background for the nib text.

This jersey definitely does diminish the prominence of their logo though, in real terms it blends into the design far better (and thus stands out less). I mean visually I like it, sure. I wouldn't be paying as much for this if I were nib, though.

For me, personally, I have no problem at all with the nib logo as long as they're paying a premium to have their brand colours on the main jersey. Presumably that comes at a cost they're willing to pay. Maybe that's thinking too highly of our principle negotiators at the club though.

Works better than I thought (still doesn't stand out anywhere near as much, hence devaluing the sponsorship). Why don't your write the club and nib an email asking why they haven't thought of this simple innovation, especially since it's talked about heavily on socials every single jersey reveal? I think you've cracked the code.

Clearly the marketing teams, designers, club bosses and sponsor money men have all missed this simple idea that's obvious to the average NRL punter.

Why would a major sponsor want their logo to blend in with other elements of the jersey? It is antithetical to the concept of sponsors and marketing in general.

Not sure anyone here, or elsewhere tbh, is suggesting a better integrated sponsor isn't as effective at advertising said brand. It's pretty obvious

However as other clubs have shown, you can have a nice balance between brand recognition and jersey integrity/aesthetics even if it means taking a little less income from said sponsor.

The big green sponsor bugs fans mate, surely you can understand that without being so patronising

Moving the jersey discussion to a more appropriate thread.

I'm going to get it, I think we just have to accept that's how the NIB sponsor is going to look. I prefer this one over the last couple and I've been hanging out to get a new jersey for a few years now.

I can't be the only one who, when it is tight and shiny, sees it as the spoon jersey.
That was my point too, yes.
The design itself is indeed nostalgic for the 1997-2000 era, but the next incarnation of the design (2012-... whenever it was changed ... I'm having a mind blank) was Tinkler/Bennett then the aftermath ... and there's not a lot to like about that era. As you say, given the tightness of jerseys since the mid-2000s, the 2026-2027 version just makes me think of that latter era. I hope it begins back positivity to my mindset of that design in the coming few years, but right now all I'm seeing is Willie Mason, Craig Gower, and Chris Heighington in the red and blue vertical stripes.
