The Game Jerseys, Logos, Mock Ups, Photos ANYTHING

IMO Jerseys that had "double sponsorship" on the back were awful and ruined an otherwise Good Jersey.

Manly - FAI
Souths - TV Week

But the winner for mine by a country mile for double-sponsorship, colour clashes and all things a crime to the eye.. like putting a turd on a fine china plate..

Newcastle BP Jersey..

Happened upon this pic of historical Gold Coast Jerseys..

Funny I was never a fan of the Seagulls Jersey at the time but I quite like it looking at this pic.. And modelled by none other that Peter Gill!

The original Giants Jersey would look great now too I reckon on the modern fabric as opposed to back in the day. Pass on Nana's Trifle in the middle thanks..

Yes they did! And while no love in that pic @kdalymc here's some love..

Jeff Muller - Entrepreneur, Inventor, Team Owner, Scamster...where are they now...

It's probably my favorite jersey design of all time.

A creative and original but clean look, and the colours mesh better then the Chargers version as well (though the chargers one is still cool).

I'd give my left nut to own one.

I was too young, but obviously there was a fair bit of promotion/talk about/ merchandise (?) when they actually changed their name to the gladiators yeah? Or was it just an over night thing, and then the next night it was chargers?

Imagine if you got your hands on one of those GC Gladiators jerseys from the 7’s. God amongst men.

That’s what I was getting at. Did they sell em before the comp?
Otherwise there is 17 very rich man around somewhere. Or maybe not...
You can usually buy jerseys around Xmas, dunno about back in the day. I’d love to be able to read about that period and how it all went down. Sounds like it was an over night thing tho...
anyone got a rugby league week from end of season 95?

Nope, there were about 20-25 made.

No Gladiator mechendise made it to market before the ARL revoked the GC license from Muller.

It was pretty literally an over night thing, at the end of the 95 season the Seagulls were going broke, so they looked to sell their license to the highest bidder to cover some of there loses and get out of the ARL, and that highest bidder was Jeff Muller, the ARL agreed to grant him the license cause they needed a team to be ready before the start of the 96 season and they didn't have time to go through the process properly.

Muller took over and changed the team to the Gladiators, moved them from Tweed heads up to the GC proper, and then there was scandal after scandal after scandal, in the give or take 6 months that Muller owned the club they literally went through a handful of CEOs, a handful of coaches, and a ton of other staff, there were even some court cases (though I can't remember what they were about), there was also a lot of media beat up around the club that probably didn't help either.

Anyway they played in the 7s, won some silverware (and are the only GC team to do so) and then a little while after that the ARL revoked Mullers license because of all the scandals and all the BS going on at the club and took control of the club themselves cause they'd run out of time before the 96 season, at which point they took the bare bones of the Gladiators set up but re-branded the club as the Chargers cause the Gladiators brand had been completely destroyed by the goings on under Muller, but they kept the Gladiators jersey design (with new colours of course) but probably only because they'd run out of time to design new ones.

I remember hearing a rumour sometime afterwards in the late nineties that there were storage containers of Gladiators kit at Peerless intended for the season in 96 that were sitting around at Peerless somewhere for a few years, but the ARL told them to destroy it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a kernel of truth in that rumour either.

As an aside I don't think there would be to much on them in Rugby League weeks and the such, there was much more important news to talk about in the game at the time that largely overshadowed the Gladiators, you'd be better off looking through the back pages of newspapers from the time for info, particularly newspapers from the GC.

I think Mullers missus picked the colours and designed the Gladiators jersey???

I was 15 at the time, but I recall the Seagulls in white, black and red then becoming the Gladiators and then the Chargers all in the one off-season.

No internet / social media back then, so me here in Perth just saw things happening one week at a time in the RLW magazine ... which, in the off-season, was a once-a-month kinda thing.
