Isn't the 89 jersey one of those Peerless "supporters" jersey and the 88 is the genuine article? I remember having one of the Peerless Broncos jerseys back in the day, and like modern supporters jerseys it wasn't as good. The worst thing to me was that it didn't have a collar.

The Gold Coast Giants jerseys were supplied by Peerless in 1988 and 1989, however that jersey might of been a "supporters" jersey because the Seagulls lettering was in black on the players jerseys.

Wahhhhhht, apart from the best n less cheapys, surely we could always buy the same as onfield (?) and this "replica" crap only started when jerseys started to get tight and have rubber grip, yeah??

I had a non sponsored Peerless replica Parra jersey. Then later I got a sponsored one. Both were from k Mart.

After the SL war ended I went with a mate to the Charity Shield. He was a Dragons supporter so I went to K mart and bought a Canon sponsored Souths jersey on special for $20 to piss him off. And I still have it LOL.

Around 1998/99 when the NRL was rationalising teams and K-Mart still had the proper cotton jerseys, managed to score most of the dead or merging teams for between $20-$40. They don't have sponsors either, just the clean Balmain hoops, etc.

Just looking around eBay. This is exactly what my old Peerless Broncos supporters jersey looked like. Note the smaller NSWRL badge.

Wise. How much did you pay for the retro?

I think it was $129 plus $10 postage, im in Tvl and my mate is in Sydney so it was the only way really of getting a retro one to him in time for game 1.

I felt utterly sick buying it though.........

Wouldn't pay 120 for the current dogs breakfast.

Which retro did you get? there seems to be one from the mid 80's on sale and another from the glory days of the early 90's. Both great looking jerseys anyway.

Got a 80's retro NSW off ebay for $60 including postage and a 2005-ish City Origin jersey for $65

I was in Best & Less the other day and took this photo. How good does the V look?

Unlike the old days I would actually prefer the cheap and nasty jerseys without all the crap sponsors. Ironically the cheap jerseys have the badges printed which makes them more authentic to some of the on field jerseys (ISC) whereas the more expensive player replica jerseys still have the embroidered badges. Don't get me wrong I prefer badges.

If a company started doing cheap versions all the current NRL jerseys IN COTTON…they would make $$$$$. It is an untapped market in NRL merchandising. You could even re-introduce long sleeve and 3/4 sleeve versions of the jersey. People want to wear their teams jerseys to games and keep warm. Everytime I go to the football in winter no one sees the jersey I am wearing as it is short sleeve and it is under my jacket. I know the wallabies merchandise does two versions of the jersey..one is a replica and the other is cotton.

Wear it over a hoody or long sleeve jumper.

Buy a nice quality hoody not a cheap thin one that doesn't hold any heat, put on a t-shirt then put on the hoody over the top of it and the jersey over the top of that and hey pesto your walking around completely rugged up and everybody can still see your jersey.

Just remember to do up the hoody and have the hood up when you are putting on the jersey to keep yourself nice and comfortable.

Alternately if you think the hoody/jumper looks stupid buy some long sleeved thermals and put your jersey over them, but in my opinion they don't work as well as a hoody by themselves so you'll probably end up wearing a jacket over your jersey anyway, well you would if you where in Canberra, you probably wont end up needing the jacket in Sydney or Brisbane but then again when I have gone to winter games in Sydney and haven't need a jumper or anything apart from my jersey to keep warm everybody else seems to have been complaining about the cold and wearing large jackets so who knows.

Is it me, or are the dimensions of that jersey off? Looks like the V extends a lot further down the jersey than in the on-field kit?
