Yeah, I understand Penrith had an issue with the puma emblem being too close to a panther.

my only gripes with the new NQ retro is

-lack of sleeve sponsor
-Front patches are too high up and need to be moved down into the grey stripe
-XXXX on the front needed to be an inch thinner.

They always intentionally make retro jerseys about 90-95% accurate so that there's a clear difference to the original jersey. Seems some people have 'aged up' 100% accurate retros in the past and flogged them online as originals and gotten a lot more money than they should.

It's those bad apples that spoil it for the rest of us...

Yeah they've got to do it so there's no point whinging about it.

The lack of sleeve sponsors is probably because the sponsor is defunct and using defunct copyright is a bit of a minefield, so it's just simpler to leave them off. It's why they don't make Video Ezy stuff anymore either.

Surely the imprinted jersey tag (usually on the lower left hand side of the garment) would suffice? You'd have to cut the actual jersey up to remove that

The retros don't have those, and most of the time those are stitched on anyway.

It's been suggested before that the NRL retros manufacturers should start putting those tags on them like Mitchell & Ness does on their Hardwood Classics and Throwback jerseys, but for whatever reason they don't. You can't sublimate print onto the thick cotton used in old jerseys and retros anyway, so they'd have to be stitched on and that can easily be unpicked, which has happened with M&N's Classics and Throwbacks before as well.

let’s hope the most iconic 7s jersey of all time is next.
Genuinely my first thoughts when I saw that Cowboys World Sevens retro jersey. I loved that Knights jersey as a young fella, and to this day wish I'd've bought one at the time. Unfortunately for me, $80 was a lot of money at the time for this 15yr old...
