I would've felt dirty had we lifted the trophy in a grey coloured jersey tbh... grey has little/nothing to do with our heritage - it's a colour I'm glad they dumped from the jersey in the early part of the decade. How you guys felt about lifting the trophy (apart from the obvious euphoria) in a jersey that doesn't really tie back to your club... I dunno, just irks me.
Doesn't irk me at all. Remember the colour White was one of the three original colours of the Broncos, along with Gold and Maroon. Furthermore the Super League jersey of Brisbane was predominately White, as (from memory) was the 2000 jersey - so from that period on White has been slowing increasing it's presence on the Broncos jersey.
Couple a White jersey with Blue Shorts and Blue and Gold Trim, and it doesn't irk me either. Blue and Gold are Brisbane's Offical colours, so it's not as if the colour blue was plucked out of thin air - it has meaning, though not exclusively to the Broncos club. Therefore as a strickly 'alternative' jersey, I think it maintains a 'clean' look while respecting the history of both the Broncos and Brisbane in general.
However, was I happy that the 'alternative' jersey graced the nation on GF night? No bloody way, a terrible decision from the NRL. Even though the Maroon in the Broncos home jersey is rather dark - it in no way appeared to constitute a 'clash' with Melbourne's strip. It took away from a moment I feel would have been better served had the Broncos more iconic colours been on display.
