Might not want to risk a rebadging situation like they had to last year... after sleeve sponsor Auto Group went under in Round 1.

This jersey change is a construction change only, not a design change.

This will only affect the playing strip, not the retail strip.

In construction, this is the way the Jersey performs on field, nothing else.

This is from The Kennel and has been confirmed from the club.

So why no jerseys on offer in the Dog Shop?

Probably something to do with finalising sponsors I'd say.

Steve Folkes was just interviewed on Fox Sports News.

He said Nike has come up with a new fabric (will be much tighter or something) and that the jersey design will be the same.

He also said instead of a v neck it will be a round neck? So something like the Storm and Broncos maybe?

And said the design of the shorts has changed a bit.

As far as I remember every team in recent years has released their new playing strips a month or 2 before Christmas to cash in on holiday shopping.

The Raiders released their 2006 playing strip in either January or February last year... definately not before Christmas '05.

I'm wondering how long it will be before we see sleeves done away with altogether? This whole 'Oh we need t-shirts so the players are harder to grab' is a load of bulls**t started by the Broncos merchandising commitee 5 years ago as an excuse to change jerseys yet again. I've yet to see a team lose a game because they wore cotton jerseys or collars. Going by that logic, Penrith should've lost the 2003 Grand Final to Easts. :sarcasm:

Mate Penrith wore polyester on-field. The suppoeters jerseys were cotton.

Why can't supporter jerseys be made out of the old, much more comfortable material? The current stuff is crap!

I have no problem with it. I just think the marketing blog that it "enables players to slip through tackles easier" is a load of bollocks. T-shirts are just a fad, my prediction being one that will die out like v-necks and 3 quarter sleeves in the 80's. I like the ISC designs though- if you were going to have a jersey without a collar, that'd be the way to do it.

The Storm website doesn't have any new strip yet, so I don't think they all come out before Christmas.

Probably because they cost a lot more to produce, whereas the polyester nightmares can be made in Asia for about $20 and then sold to us for $170.

That's why the retro jerseys are so popular, as they are comfortable to wear and far better value for money.

This has been happening for a while now, since at least '99. There is a pic on the rabbitohs.com forum from the Souths vs. St George game at the SCG in 99 and you can clearly see that those jerseys are polyester, and the ones sold in the shops that year are the proper cotton, three quarters length sleeve jobs.
