I wonder if Erina's decision to deregister squasher had anything to do with him training with Easts in the Qld cup..... I know that he was looking for a release to join Easts but ended up returning to Erina as he still had a year to run on his contract and owed Erina money

A friend of mine just informed me Demons beat Kurri Kurri 4 tries to 3.
Swamy 2 tries and Peachey 2 tries.
He said the Demons defence was very good especially on their line, however the attack was ordinary with lots of mistakes and dropped ball, and the forwards struggled with their fitness.
I do not know how good Kurri Kurri are as a football team?

yeah it was a scrappy game by the demons they bombed 3 or 4 tries and ball went to ground alot.
they still have 2 front rowers out injured so had to start guys like nathan mckay as well as 2 other guys just back from injury and in the heat like yesterday were probably only good for 10-15 mins. backrowers like matt kelly(still out injured) and dave johanson(played first 20 mins, then rested for remainder) and rhian gerrard(left field early in second half with cut eye) are all 80 min backrowers, so yeah the worry is the front row, hopefully one will be back next week.

yeah not sure how kurri go in the newcastle comp, they were a big tough side, quite a few big hitters. i know they have several CRL rep players that play for them and they had just signed a guy who was group 21 player of the year a couple of times and they dont seem to be short of cash with sponsors like WIN televison and HEZ.

yeah dont know how long he will be with us, cause the way parra is talking he will get plenty of game time with them

he's a big boy for a centre..the moment he gets used to the pace of the game he'll be regular in Flegg [I'm pretty sure he's under 20 years of age]

Windsor hammered wenty 50-14 tonight at Windsor tonight. The Wolves put their best side on the field and they look a better side than last year but Ian McCann did what he always does in trials, even when they played a full strenth Canberra Raiders NRL side last year, mix half the JB team with half of the A Grade.

The Windsor team was:

1 John Russell 2 Chris Barlow 3 Luke Bannon 4 Steve Kim 25 Col Murphy 7 Sean Laurie 6 Drew Dalton 13 Ryan Tremonte 12 Jim Baira 11 Shanelle Haumono 10 Jason Wrigley 9 Ryan Russell 8 Tito Nuimata 14 Adrian Priem 15 Joel Paton 20 Ben Stewart and 2 others.

Mark Fakahua was playing for Wenty.

Cessnock 28 Mounties 24 last night at Cessnock.Very hot conditions, both coaches happy with the trial with no major injuries to note of. Cessnock jumped out to an early 22-4 lead but poor defensive options and mistakes in possession cost Cessnock and he Mounties registered another try just before half time to trail 22-10 at halftime. Further pressure from Cessnock's mistakes allowed three more Mount Pritchard tries who then lead 24-22 for an unlikely come from behind win. Cessnock scored shortly before fulltime to snatch a tough but scrappy win.
Best for Cessnock were 9 Adrian McNab, 1 Leigh Abel, 3 Lee Fiddow, 4 Chris Pyne and debutants 7 Anthony Farah and 12 Chris Saab.
Didnt have a team list for Mounties but 9,16,1,6,3 were the best in my opinion.

Cessnock beat Kurri 2 weeks ago 50-12

Chester Hill beat favourites Cabramatta 38-36 today at Cabra. Chester Hill dominated the first half and led 26-10 at the break. This was the first trial for most of the rhinos and they appeared to tire allowing Cabra to push hard in the last quarter.

Sam Aiga scored 3 tries for Cabra but Chester Hill also had some very useful backs.

Belrose travelled to Bankstown with about 20 players. The Sydney Bulls put their top squad on the field for the first 2 quarters and the Bulls scored 3 tries to 2. Prop Puna Rubasale played his first game for Bulls as did the other prop Dean Vicelich who has been trialling with the Bulldogs. Khalid Deeb also has his first run since doing a hamstring at Orara. So the team is starting to take shape and Luke Millward should be available in a couple of weeks.

In the last 2 quarters the Bulls put their 2nd squad on with 4 players from the top grade. The Bulls scored 4 tries to 3 in this part. The 2nd squad was much stronger with 4 players cut by the Bulldogs in the team.

Windsor played Brothers. They were playing 3x20 minutes. I stayed for 2 sessions. Windsor started well and scored first but Brothers gradually got on top and led 14-4 after 40 mins. The only players I knew in the Windsor side were Brad Clews, Danny Chiha, Joel Willoughby and Paul Deonck.

Anthony Farah has played JBC for 3 clubs - St Marys-Penrith, Souths Jnrs and Newtown. he trialled with Sydney Bulls last year but didnt get in and played A Grade in the Parra comp for Auburn Warriors. I saw Joel Taafao, another player from that Auburn team trialling for the Knights against Penrith a few weeks ago.

Chris Saab also played JBC for Souths Juniors and then P/L for Norths.

players from the eels that were trialist and cut early on were Nathan Mckay, Brad Clarke, Lee Cameron, Reid Sasseberg

Players that have been contracted with the eels but need more gametime or might not get gametime at the eels unless of injuries and are sent to us but may be called back through out the year are Paul Ivan, Steve McPhee, they also sent down Chris Noble and last night another two players were sent down, another centre and a front rower, i'll confirm their names over the next couple of days as i missed training last night

whats going to be real interseting is the players teams will field for round 1, to comply with the points system. i know its tight at the demons and we aint got any big names. I saw cabra's points the other day, their top 5 players total 55 points, that leaves an average of under 4 points for the remaining 12 players, thats not even flegg standard.
teams like mounties and chester hill will surely be in the same boat due to no loylty points.
i think the bulls will once again be the team to beat.

chris noble was balmain flegg last year, and is at parra this year, not sure of his contract status. he is centre/winger though he played some second row with balmain flegg.
he was quite impressive at the kurri trial played all 75mins of the first game then played alot of the second game.
i'll get back to you on the two new guys tomorrow
