Bull's coach David Baysarri took the opportunity to give some of his reserve graders a run against celler dwellars Asquith last sunday. Rick Lyons made the most of his debut by scoring 3 tries. Also Luke Kelley, who has now played 7 top grade games over a 7 year period, managed to score.

Interesting to see that Anton LaVin, who has been going quite well for Newtown, has been named in the Southern Districts RUFC line up the weekend. If this is factual it is a bit of a blow to the Jets.

Wenty's Mark Luland, Willie Mclean and Adam Capovilla were all injured last week against Cabra. With Pat Mckenzie, Keiron Herring, Justin Bishop and Brett Sargent all in NZ, the magpies have named 4 reserve graders - Tim Clayton, Ben Taia, Walter Vauea and Mark O'Grady - in their starting 13 and are yet to name the bench.

Windsor are also affected with A grade players Brent Garrett, Chris Tormay, Michael Carl and Elias Paiyo in the starting 13 and yet to name a bench.

Wenty have better back up strength despite generational change occurring with the departure of A grade coach Dave Penna. They lost 5 players to St Clair and others have retired but they have recruited players from Flegg, CRL and ironically Windsor. Whereas the Wolves have lost a dozen players from last years A grade team and have won only one game in each of A grade and A reserves.

The Wolves have secured Scott Russell from Western Suburbs.

Is that the same Rick LYONS who played for the Jets in Beam.

Anton La VIN came from Rugby Union up in Queensland last season. Think he played a game or two of Premier league at the start of the season and then was dropped to the Beam side ever since. Still finding his feet in the change over from Rugby to League I suppose. I think ( But don't quote me on it ) that he is fact a Roosters signed/contracted player. However would fit under the points system in Beam I suppose as came from QLD Rugby Union background.

Yeah Rick Lyons played with Jets for a few years. Wes Naiqama and Nathan Ford are still in NZ so I reckon Rick will get another game this weekend against Belrose.

LaVin did have a roosters contract so obviously they have released him. The Roosters have now supplied another centre to the Jets to replace LaVin - Charlie Herekotukutuku, who comes from the Canterbury Bulls in NZ.

Windsor JB had so much trouble putting a side on the field against Newtown last week that they forfeited both A grade and A reserve grade games. It wont be much better this week.

Sydney Bulls beat Belrose 30-16 after trailing for a large part of the game. A 16-3 penalty count assisted Belrose but they are certainly not the worst team in the comp.

On sunday Wenty without 11 regulars took on Windsor who were missing 9. The injury toll for these clubs is shocking. 5 of Wenty's replacements had played flegg in the last 2 years and a sixth, Bowman, played Premier League last year. In addition, Nick Goodwin has come out a short lived retirement to help the club. One of the replacements, Ben Taia, travelled to Canberra with the Parra P/L team the previous day.

Windsor dont have the same depth this year but Trent Horsey is back from his ill fated stint with Central Queensland Comets and the Wolves have exercised an option over Matt McConnell, who was playing for Blacktown City after he spent the preseason with Windsor. Matt had several years in the Souths P/L. Elias Paiyo has also been called up. He played in the 1995 and 2000 World Cups, Adelaide Rams and 5 years with Sydney Bulls.

It was a gutsy performance by the Wolves to lead for an hour but Wenty were always going to come home stronger.

On Monday night Cabramatta made it 5 wins on the trot winning 34-4. Asquith just ram the ball up one off the ruck or run from dummy half. This was no doubt a popular strategy in 1908 but the game has progressed since
then. Cabra score a couple good tries early but then got sucked into running over the top of the visitors forwards. Alan Burns scored 3 tries and had Cabra adopted a more expansive approach he may have got 6.

Reports are that tonights Residents game will have 4 players that have played JBC this year - Craig Trindall, Brett Finn and Aaron Mercer from Windsor and Grant Wooden from Erina. Finn was man of the match in the 2005 Residents game.

Yeah Cabra got a good start but the Bulls chances werent maximised when Sam Rakabu ran over the dead ball line trying to score closer to the posts. The Bulls hit the lead in the second half but ultimately it came down to goal kicking. Tippett didnt play and the Bulls tried 3 kickers before DeBartolo kicked one whereas Fluke kicked 3 for Cabra.

With 9 minutes left Mostyn made a 40 metre break out of nothing and offloaded to Chris Smith. The ref was about to award the winning try when the linesman ruled the pass forward.

Good luck to Cabra. That is 7 in a row. Better to lose to them now rather than in late September. Ross Brown was great for the Blues.

Roosters forward Shane Shackleton was at the ground to support his old team mates in the Bulls side and Test Cricketer Michael Clarke, now living in the inner west, was spotted among the huge crowd eating a sample of the famous Cabra steak sandwich.

Sounds like a close one mate. Cabra are certainly in form after a slow start to the season.

Jets beat the Entrance 44 to 18 at Henson on Saturday. They were all over them in the first half keeping the Tigs scoreless at the break. However slackened off a little in the second half. It was still a very good effort from the bluebags, and they looked very good and scored some great talented trys.

Asquith drew 32-all with Erina at Storey Park today when they scored after the bell went and then kicked the conversion from near the sideline to level the match.

Bulls beat Erina 46-10, Cabra beat Windsor 24-20, Entrance beat Wenty 26-8 and Newtown beat Asquith 40-24, Belrose bye.

The table now is: Bulls 22, Wenty 20, Newtown 19, Cabra 18, Windsor 16, Entrance 14, Belrose 9, Erina 9, Asquith 9.

Windor's points have at last been fixed after the NSWRL understated them by 2 for 4 weeks.

Big surprise from The Entrance. Cabra made it 8 in a row. Windsor led 4-0 at half time but Cabra dominated after the break and led 24-8 a few minutes from the end. The Entrance play the bottom 3 in the last 3 games so Windsor need to beat them next saturday or they might miss the semis.

There are 2 deferred games: Newtown vs Bulls and Entrance vs Cabra.

Bulls, Cabra, Windsor and Erina are yet to get the second bye and 2 points.
