Roosters are known to poach good players from other clubs.
I hear they spend 300k on a Jersey Flegg team, poaching juniors from
Parramatta, Dragons, Newcastle and Penrith. Clubs invest in their juniors and Roosters just hold their cash and buy them when the time is right.
That's why there needs to be a discount on salary cap for juniors.
What the Roosters are doing isn't good for the NRL.

Salary cap??? :|

are you asking what a salary cap is? or asking someone for a salary cap?

what's your point?
Yeh, pretty simple really. Do they know a salary cap exists and it is to the tune of 3.25million.

How many times do we have to tell you Morons, we lose 5 or so high profile/high payed players, and we gain 3. you do the maths!

I'd say 300k is way under the real price. Some of them are on more than some first graders at other clubs and that is a fact.

I don't get why they buy all the good jnrs then buy good first graders. Either do one or the other! This way is just f**ked and wrong. The flegg team is unbeaten isn't it? Why the hell do you need Joel for 3 years? Clearly the talent at the roosters club is head and shoulders above the rest in flegg and equal first in PL. I don't hate the roosters but what they are doing is wrong.

why does parramatta need their new purchases when they are running secod in the premier league - sorry but if i had hadley's goose noise machine I would be using it on you.

Now let's see NZ buys Price, etc etc

Souths have got three of our players for next year
Broncos got another
Fittler retires
Rickertson takes a big pay drop to play one more year.
Parramatta takes Robertson

so we aren't entitled to fill some gaps with recognised first grade players..Penrith were going to give Roberts the flick if a couple of players had signed the dotted line - they did and he was offerred a dead drop contract - so he walked - but Penrith had to do it to stay under the salary cap (no reflection on Penrith)

At St George Firman was no longer the flavour of the month - Head is the go now..

Monaghan took the lowest contract offerred $30,000 lower than what Canberra offerred...work out for yourself what Manly would have offerred

do you realise that the game is now professional? - if players want to go somewhere they will - all I can say is suck eggs!! if we can have a strong club then good luck to us - but again - its clowns like you who can't even prove your arguements who are the real problems

can I suggest you get a life and worry about your own club

oh by the way - with the retirements and players leaving we had over $1m to sign players with - oh to be so well managed.but in your opinion we aren't allowed to spend up to the salary cap - get real

Opinion no matter how eloquently expressed as fact is still opinion. Back up your statements with links and proof. Not gestimates and wishful thinking.

I'm sick of justifying the way things operate.

When Canberra were on top and we were running 12th we had one decent winger Canberra took him John Ferguson was his name. So then the stronger got strong and the weaker go weak.

Canberra won a premiership by being over the cap. A team full of stars the strong getting stronger and the weak getting weaker. Now the shoe is on the other foot and they don't like it.

I see Saints fans complaining but it was OK to pinch other players during the 50's and 60's. Raper from Newtown being a prime example.

Buying players has been around since the year dot and will continue to be around. the questions that have to be asked are.

1. Why do players leave ??
2. How do we get them to stay ??

If the answer to one is because they are offered more money, you have to then ask

Why can't we afford to pay the same ??

If the answer is lack of finances

Why do we have a lack of finances and what can be done to rectifiy it.

It is no good sitting back and just complaining. Souths have finally realised it this year and results on and off the field are starting to come through.

I believe Monaghan has gone to the Roosters to get a rep jumper. He has probably seen, like we all have, how biased the selection process is and wants to be a part of it. Why wouldn't he. Until the Roosters are stopped from selecting the NSW side, players will always be enticed to go to them in hope of getting favourable treatment. This is the advantage the Roosters have at the moment to sign quality players for less money than other clubs.

Do we need to stop the Dragons from selecting the NSW side also? In case you've forgotten, there were six Dragons players in the Blues side, and this is the basis of your argument, is it not?

Thts right mojo. Daley is also involved in selections, hence some of the selection deals done. That leaves just one question, how did Kennedy get selected? Do Manly have some sort of input into the selections also?

facts are that if you play for easts there is a good chance you'll get a rep jumper and IMHO that is not right, rep jersys should not be dictated by what colour jersy you wear, but sadly thats how it is atm and THAT is why Monaghan left

Im hoping ricky is the answer, he is a good, honest man and hopefully that will spell the end of the Gould Bias, but i have a sick feeling Gould wont be as far away from origin as we'd all like him to be

Gotta feel for Sticky, the poor bloke is trying to coach a team with gould sticking his mug in every 2 seconds... Ricky dosnt need gould

No sunshine you're wrong. The only reason why some Easts players were chosen to represent NSW was because the club is leading the comp, and the players are in rather good form.

Perhaps you can use that analogy for Illawarra though ... they are in 7th spot and got 6 reps in the Blues team. Work that one out.

it works for both the roosters and st goerge
do you honestly think every one of your players deserved to be in ahead of some others? i dont and not many do, same with st george

fact is you have a much higher chance of getting rep jersys if your at east or the dragons... nest season Monnas will play no better than he is this year and he will be in a blues jersy... mark my words

i think the selectors and coach should be completely independent
otherwise bias will always creep in

That didn't stop the selectors picking canbera players in their droves in the early 90's

But i spose that had nothing to do with them being the top side at the time !

Look im not trying to start a fight here mate
back in those days no club really had their hands in anything
teams were selected alot more fairly, granted some bias was creeping in but not nearly as much as these days

joel has all but confirmed that he left because it would give him a greater chance at getting a rep jersy. Watch it, he will be playing for NSW next year, would he play for NSW at canberra... maybe but the chances are alot higher at the chooks and i think thats wrong
