It hasn't been harmless to the Raiders who had sponsors threaten to pull a Million dollars of money from the club nor for the NRL who have had to contend with negative publicity not only in this country but internationally. Add to this the TV rights being up for sale next year and the lack of injury to the dog doesn't matter too much.
Monaghan maybe a good bloke but that isn't really a defence for bad behavior anymore
The damage to the Raiders can be seen from the fact that they are now undoubtedly the most well known rugby league club globally, and known for what one of their players did with a dog, rather than the premierships they have won and the great players they've had like Meninga, Daley, Clyde et al.
