Monas can't be any worse than the current lot... and he does have great public speaking skills.

The game will survive. Just as rugby union survives when the Wallabies captain put on a dog licking balls show for his team via video hookup, and just as AFL survived after one of their players chomped on the testicles of an opponent. Sport has seen match fixing, murders, administration stuff ups and catastrophes with a large loss of life... but these games survive.

Of course Monaghan has paid the price for bringing the game into disrepute. I said it from the outset that the lad was gone. What more do you want? Oh, that's right, you want others to agree with your moral stance. Some sick pound of flesh. Did I say pound?

Since then he has shown more remorse that anyone could expect. The bloke is going through torture (his words). Again, I defy anyone who can't feel a little sorry for him after viewing the media apology.

The majority here now realise that it has been an overreaction. You're probably upset by that.

If he tried to blame someone else, you might have a case for your cultural snobbery.

But the fact is, Monaghan has done something you seem incapable of.

He has admitted that he got it wrong.

There is simply not much point in discussing the topic with you willow. It doesn't interest me that you've lost your rags in the above post and thrown petty insults

I'm not suggesting that league won't go on. But what you (and the axis of intelligence - el duque, EA) simply can't seem to comprehend is the long term damage that EVERY single one of these incidents is causing. Making excuses and being an apologist does nothing good for the game in the long run

Spot on. I didn't realise the concept of actions and consequences and the concept cause and effect were so hard for some people. I also didn't realise areas such as new media, perception and image were so difficult...

Moffo, it was you that tried to make the comparison with other sporting competitions. Once you realised that RL wasn't doing that bad, you then tried to stop the comparison - because you suddenly realised it didn't suit your argument.

But yes, enough is enough.

Facts are there for all to see. Monaghan is full of remorse, the club has responded. It's obvious to anyone with a sense of compassion and forgiveness that the decision was made with a heavy heart.

For what it was, I haven't seen this type of pressure on any other code of football in Australia.

I gave Joel plenty of sh*t and he deserved it too. His conduct gave rise to a lot of funny jokes.

And the people beating him up for a laugh, I dont think most of us really give f**k about his morality and ethics.

I dont anyway.

He has a sick and deranged sense of humour and was disrespectful to animals on account of his stupidty and infantile mental processes.

But hes not some six headed fire breathing alien who cuts the tongues out of children and feeds them to his pet rat ( ie an LU moderator!)

Hes just a dumb bloke, pissed as, who f**ked up.

It will all blow over and I am sure he will be back.
