Which is why online polls are useless. Heard of the concept of self-interest? Only someone interested in a topic will respond to a topic. Which is what makes online polls useless. The sample is not controlled and does not give an accurate reflection of what people really think. Some people might skip over the poll by accident or on purpose. Some might not want to know about a man with a dog due to disgust. Some may just be sick of rugby league. No one forces people to do it, which means you can't get an accurate sample. In a site already cluttered with other polls, articles and various other forms of "noise", it makes it incredibly difficult to get an accurate sample. If someone has not heard what Joel Monaghan did then they won't answer. If someone doesn't know who the Canberra Raiders are or who Joel Monaghan is they won't answer. You need to remove variables and create a controlled environment for accurate assessment. That's a given by every scientist, researcher and statistician in the world.
