JOEL THOMPSON TO MANLY?

Interesting.

He goes to join his brother in Canberra.

My only question is why would we let Thommo and Luc go same time ..

Coast ? Any thoughts.

Are we then relying in Host to fill the void ?
Sims will slot into the back row and have more impact than Thompson ever did.
Played a lot more minutes late in the season and was one of our best.
He looks like he's coming back into the form that made his reputation in the first place.
Host, Leilua and Sele would be in line for a bench spot.
The point is that these young guys need plenty of game time in order to get their confidence up.
Giving them a token 10-20 mins or not using them at all, would destroy their confidence and never get them ready for a full time FG gig.
In fact, that sort of treatment could demoralize them and set them back irreversibly.

As far as i can find out luch is still here next year.
But you never know.
I think if tommo goes then sims back to his best position in second row.
Host to start.
Luch to bench.
Hopefully we will keep hind as well.
If Hind is given a fair crack at FG, I think he will surprise us all.
Tough kid who doesn't take a backward step and bends the line consistently.
He has been ready for FG for some time IMO.

I agree on Hind and can not fathom why he has not been given a go as a bench player in the NRL. He looks better than a lot of props that I have seen play for the Dragons over the past four decades and I would rate him ahead of the younger Sele and Lawrie.
Perhaps his problem is that he is not local junior similar to Wakeman.

I hope that's not the reason because if it is - disgrace...

Dear Drag Queen it takes some time to settle in to NRL. As you would appreciate being part of the Dragons royalty, most of our problems related to turnstiles up our left and right wings and through the centres. Our three fullbacks this year were the least of our problems. I hope that you have not hurt Coast's feelings as we need him to continue to be our Man-on-the-Spot as he is more reliable than John Moz or Mickey Lane!
Ps Are you part of the Dragons Cheer Girls?

Hind junior club is bilambil jet in the tweed district.
Hind is only 23 so still young.
Wakeman and mary had a full out and he was never going to play nrl while mary was there.
Also wakeman was 27 or 28 so that would of come into it.

Last year Wakeman was the best forward for the Cutters followed by Hind and Sironen. Mary is a goose!
I see that Wakeman was an NYC junior prior to playing for the Windsor Wolves.

I think Joel Thompson is overrated, especially on this forum. People talk him up as a potential captain but I don't see it. He hasn't really gone to the next level as I'm sure the club expected when he signed on, in fact, he's been surpassed by our other backrowers. I like to sink the boot into the club for poor decisions but I won't on this occasion

In terms of pure playing ability I'd agree - he hasn't kicked on the way many of us hope and while he shows glimpses of brilliance, it's not nearly enough to justify his stance.

What we will miss is his leadership and intensity. He constantly leads the defensive line and kick chases and is often the guy putting a rocket up his teammates. That's why he's mentioned as a captain.

Going back to his playing ability, Friz and Simms are in front (although the latter hasn't played 80mins in a while) and Host has a far higher ceiling and can't be held back any longer.

There won't be any more big signings for 2018, only an outside back & a utility half/hooker. Not rumour or any sort of scoop, this was reported by Ian Millward on the website.
I just hope that outside back is Jimmy the jet and the utility half/hooker is Michael Morgan....

Wakeman was a local junior
Quinny was a local junior too. Add Jack Buchanon, Garvey, Beale, Morriss twins, Merrin, Rein, Hutchison, Bird and so forth. All apparently not worthy or our club. Granted some were not worthy of an NFL spot. Did we learn anything? Nope. Instead we're pinning our hopes on Field, Dufty and Leilua. First two are quick but have zero defence. Leilua is simply a passenger. Welcome to our future!
