Guys I thought we had paid a heap of his expenses and that was one reason saints were dirty on him when he left as saints had paid ... Main reason out there is we couldnt gaurantee a first grade spot

Agree with this, but as was proven this year, having a great forward pack is meaningless, when we have the slowest backline in the comp.

A power game comes undone at the end of the season when our forwards burn out.

At some point, our backline needs to do their share.

A good coach would still have got the team winning even with a slow backline. They would have swapped players and come up with structures to suit.

Well yeh, the Cows made the GF with a pretty slow backline. Difference being Linnett and O'Neill at least have the ability to set up their winger, and Feldt knows how to finish a backline movement without being blown into the crowd (unlike Nene).

I agree, if we could get an upgrade on Nene and Aitken that would be a good start. Some more speed on Flo's wing would've possibly created more opportunities as well. But with Hunt coming to replace McGroan, that should create more for the left side attack.

Hard to judge our right side attack this year with Little ball going there.

Left side attack was not as effective as all teams quickly worked out to stack their right side defence.

Keen to see what Hunt brings to the right side and how teams adjust as we have threats on both sides.

Little ball went that way as we had McCrone, Duges/Aitken as our options to set up Nene (who's not very good anyway). Hardly a threatening right side.

Nighty and Lafai can both play but are just too slow and Widdop gets targeted way too much. Our left side did ok, but teams too easily defended it towards the end of the year. Dufty adds another dimension from FB, but he's a 10 game rookie.

Hunt will improve us next year but we still lack brains and speed out wide.
