Early days yet...The Melbourne Cup winner is still in the paddock. The advantage the Raiders have over the old goats, is that apart from Tonguey and Orford, the rest of them are still kids....unlike the Eels of 2011...
AND I don't recall Dragons, Manly and Melbourne saying that...Were they referring to Peter Peters?

some very harsh assesments of Joel on here IMO. for the last 5 years or so he has had either EGJ or Whysosilly outside of him and Ben Smith Inside him on the occasions he played wing. so right there are 3 players who have NO IDEA how to read defence. Poor Joel has been doing the defensive reads for 2 for most of his carreer. And I for one have really watched him becasue of this and he has saved us many , amny a time. Sure he has not benn going great guns so far this season, but he is coming back from major surgery. It was not that long ago that from memory everyone was saying how underrated he is. he is a top bloke and a great clubman. we could do alot worse.

I think there are some pretty harsh assessments too. He's not a world beater but is better than indicated on here despite a poor start this year. I saw a couple of times in 09 / 10 when EGJ used to move in off his wing and Joel slipped in behind him and accross to save certain tries. I think if ever Hayne is tried at 5/8 again, Joel should be at least given a try at FB instead of Burty.

Thing is with joel, he would do ok if we had a strike center. Currently joel is our best 3/4 and that aint good enoigh.
If we can sign a strike center like Hoppa, then ill be happy for the other center position to be a fight between Reddy/Loko/Morgan....

Love Joel, but gee he was bad vs Dragons. Worst ever game for the Eels ? Maybe.

I can't recall the last time a team with a high playing staff turnover won the comp. Going by your philosophy shouldn't you be fighting to keep Orford and his gun partner Brett White seeing how they've both lived October madness

Nah, Ox will probably move to Souths as a replacement for Sandow. White is worse than Orford, atm..if that is possible....

Just had confirmation that Joel is not happy & is looking around.

Highly unlikely that he will be at Parra next year.

I know that Ozzy has said that he will be made an offer, however, the offer is not enough in Joels mind.

Apparently he has been talking about leaving since last year.

It would be great if he stayed but if he wants big money we're better off signing a younger centre with more potential.

Loko will probably be ready for first grade next year. There's also Ryan Morgan - both of these guys have the goods physically but there's no substitute for experience.

I think Kearney will persist with Loko and Morgan (at least for one of the spots) this year meaning at least one of them will certainly be first choice next year.

That leaves at most one spot. If we're chasing Hopoate then it's him.

no loss. He hasn't got pace or power and if he misses tackles then he's useless. We can do a lot better

Reddy has always been a solid reliable first grader .
As mentioned before , will never win you a grand final , but will always keep one side of the field solid.
If we can snag a true strike centre , then Reddy will not be missed.
Plus , it was his dad that told Jharal Yow Yeh ,"there's no future for you here at Parra" !

Just what does Rod Reddy do around the joint these days now that he is no longer the so called "talent" scout or assistant coach? Hopefully SK moves him on as well.

He's by no means the worst centre going around and would happily have him stay but given the balance of the rest of the squad ATM we need more of a dynamic type centre
