John Morris would easily get a job at another team, surely..

Inherited a team that he had no say in regarding signings and such, blooded a whole heap of debutants.. made the finals 2 years in a row, there are teams in far better position than Cronulla who would kill to be in the finals

Seems a little strange, Morris was doing a solid if unspectacular job at Cronulla, and they’re replacing him with a bloke who has 0 experience as an NRL head coach. Plenty of spuds have been highly recommended based on their work as an assistant. Trent Barrett immediately comes to mind.

Well they could always swap with trent if it doesn't work out.

I get the disappointment, he's been shafted...replaced by a guy with less experience than him when he's been travelling reasonably well.

But why leave? Why not stay on the rest of the year, with a playing group that is very publicly and clearly behind him, and try to increase his credentials to get a gig in the future?

Having first targeted Bellamy and later Fitzy, the Sharks board clearly admire the Storms/Roosters systems and wanted someone that could replicate or at least create a version of it at Cronulla. It’s a massive gamble but the board is ambitious.

I don't get it. Something must be going in behind the scenes with the players or with recruitment decisions.

Morris was going okay results wise. It's going to be an uphill battle for Fitzy.

Bellamy to come in as coaching director would be my bet.

I feel sorry for Morris, from the outside he seems to have been doing ok, but those inside the club would know better. The majority of the league world were shocked when we punted Hook. It's working out pretty well so far.

You have to start somewhere. A club can't just think that they may not have the resources of a successful club & just maintain the status quo. Change what you can now & work on the rest. Or become Manly.
