John Sutton? Nah, f**k him...he's not an 'origin player'

Would you be happy with John Sutton as the NSW 5/8 for Game 2?

good player but to inconsistant, give him another year to see if he can play well over a longer time period
i would prefer soward he has a , speed, great kicking game, good passing game and passion. but in saying that if sutton got picked sure he would do a better job than lyon

Campese is way ahead of Sutton imo. He's much more consistent. I'm not saying that he's never going to be ready, just that he's not there yet.

Sutton has a habit of going missing when he's needed and he seems to crumble under any real pressure.

Wouldn't be a bad option off the bench though.

Potentially great player. Goes missing far too often. If he played every game like he did today he'd be a shoe in, but he doesn't.

In that game Campese set up a try with his kick to Hayne and was the ONLY NSW back to not miss a single tackle. If you want to add some attacking flair with Origin level defense, Campese is the man. He's the best edge defender in the comp.
I'll stand to correction, but I remember something along the lines of Campo putting a try on a platter for Creagh, only for it to be knocked on over or close to the try line.

At any rate, I don't understand where "he had a bad game" comes from. He wasn't great, but he definitely wasn't bad.

Nope, 100% spot on, Creagh holds the ball and Campo had 2 try assists. As you say, put it on a platter for him
your right, he didnt have a bad, he had a very solid game for a debut, he didnt star but he was NSW's best back in that game. And he was scapegoated.

Another example of NSW selectors f**king things up
If Sutton gets a chance i hope they dont f**k him around too

I would be happy enough..

Prefer Campo with Barrett @ 7, but Sutton I could handle.

Would feel for him if Kimmorley was inside.

But you need to be corrected the best 5/8 will wear maroon.

but he was NSW's best back in that game

Hayne was miles better than Campese.

Terry was very nervous that game, his kicking game suffered and the one try he did help set up came off a very suspect pass back on the inside.

point taken on Hayne. 2nd best back
his try assist actually came off a kick to corner for Hayne. The kick wasnt pin point perfect but it was good enough to get Hayne in for a try. They all count. And as stated, had Creagh held the ball he had another one too.

His kicking game was not up the his usual standard but he played well enough to persist with

Hayne didn't score.

Campese kicked it over to Hayne who threw it back onto the try line for Creagh to score. Very iffy pass but the video ref. couldn't call it forward.

2nd best back is being pretty iffy too.

He was on par with Lyon and Jennings for mine. If Kidley didn't f**k up in the last 10 he was also easily superior to Campese who was only one less mistake better than Wallace.

the pass was fine, as said, that game was lost on defense, Campese was the only NSW back not to miss one, he shut down a lot of attacking raids in defense too
i stand by my call, 2nd best back for NSW in that game... Giddley was f**king hopeless like he always is. Lyon was average, Jennings was a rookie and looked good too.
In fact their side which included Campo, Hayne, Jennings and Creagh was the most dangerous part of NSW...

As much as i love Sutton as a player, I think we need a stable option next to the younger half (I am assuming we go with 1 Youngin and 1 Vet in the halves). And seeing everyone feels that Pearce is a shoe in for the 7 jersey, i can only assume Barrett will be the 6.

6. Barrett/Sutton/Campo
7. Pearce/Noddy

The fact that Sterlo is talking Campo up helps his chances. and I wouldnt hate to see Sutton on the Bench.

No , the NSW selectors, these are the same people who once chose Kimmorley over Johns.

They selected Steve Turner.........

And Wolfman... and McManus.

I love the NSW selectors.

Hasn't Sutton done the bench before, or was that Wing I'm thinking of?

I think either him or Campese should play 5/8th in game 2
i dont care which one, on form you'd probably go Sutton but i think Campo is a better player. Lime green googles firmly on.

I agree. I don't mind which one (I'd prefer our lad), but it should be one of those two.

It won't be Campo, he's been there and lost once so he's blackballed forever.

John doesn't run around the field, screaming and flailing his arms about and getting touches every other play ala Gidley so he won't get a shot. Notwithstanding the fact that Gidley, for all of his hyperactivity, doesn't actually know what he is doing. But he looks involved and that counts for a lot apparently.
