You misunderstood the point - perhaps the injury protected him from the grind of Rugby League and allowed him to hit form and rake in so many points?

It's purely speculative and doesn't belong in this comparison.

Yes and Joey played with complete no hopers.

It's no coincidence that NSW haven't won a series since Johns retired.

Gee that's a stretch, that's like saying Qld haven't won since Wally retired ... but they have and some would argue that that's because of Thurston. Until you blokes find another decent half then you'll be still wailing.

:lol::lol:.
You can waffle on all day ,but it doesnt change the fact that JT has a premiership ring when you claim he doesn't..
If you post outright lies ,you will get pulled up for them .
You're off to a good start here.
Classed as a liar from the start.

move along tard.

I have posted no "lies". Read the full post and anyone with a primary school level comprehension level understands the point I was making. I am guilty as charged for having overlooked the value of Thurston's five appearances in 2004. It says it all that he gave away his premiership ring. Tell the story any way you want to pal. Thurston hasn't taken HIS team to a NRL premiership. End of story.

p.s. I was warned about all types on here. So I guess you're like Mitch Pearce. We see your name a lot though it contributes a whole lot of nothing. Come back and see us when you have something to contribute the thread as opposed to attacking new members.

Blah blah blah.
You posted crap .i corrected it.

Simple Question.
Did you say that JT hasn't won a premiership ring?
:lol::lol::lol:

& if you want to be accepted as a worthwhile poster & not another Bunniesderp, then dont post outright lies.

1. Before we even entertain this question, Thurston needs to lead his team to a NRL Premiership or two.

2. All of the greats, especially in the modern era have steered their teams to a premiership. Sterling, Mortimer, Stuart, Langer, Johns etc have won the big one. Thurston has that lacking from his resume to even be in the conversation as a rival to Johns.

Yes, Thurston has all the individual accolades, awards, rep records in some all conquering teams etc. though there is one glaring hole and he needs to get that premiership ring before his career is done.

My first two posts in this thread.

I am guilty of assuming most here had a comprehension level. You do not. You're honing in on the last sentence of my first two posts where before this I clearly indicate that Thurston must lead HIS team to a title. I know he got a ring in 2004 - I didn't count it here. He did not play the lead role like the past greats before him and again - he gave away HIS ring.

We are being asked to nominate Thurston vs Johns. If you and others want to tally the premierships between the two as two for Johns, one for Thurston, be my guest. I won't be. It would be like Tom Brady's back up QB's spruking that they're "a Super Bowl winning QB". Please.

You like the last word it would seem - you can have it in reply to this post Mitch.

There is one clear "tard" here and that would be you sir. Move on as I will. Can't wait to read more from you this upcoming 2013 season.

p.s. My bad. I got a PM saying you're a known troll who is wanting to get a bit. All good. You succeeded. Bravo!

Not a troll ,just like to correct people who have no idea & post BS.
Please point out any example of my trolling .

Let me guess, the PM was from a Roosters fan who doesn't like the fact that i think Mythcell Pearce is highly overated & there are far better options for NSW .

One of the biggest myths in Rugby League is that Joey had to continuously carry a pack of nuffies - bitch please.
Its not true of the sides he had in 97-01 or so, thye had some very good forwards and decent backs

It's pretty true of the teams of the last couple of years of his career though, beyond Johns and Buderus they were really, really average

after reading through 9 pages of "no he's better because he played for a team I support" I have stumbled upon something which in my professional analysis is the absolute truth

@MarTiger, is a quadwit with the brain the size of a split pea

that's all

Yep. Injuries always make players better. You ever heard of match fitness?

Johns still holds the record for most points in a game for Australia - no? Johns has scored roughly twice as many points - no?

MAR TIGER -Ignore Phil. He struggles with logic and intellectual concepts that require more thought than it takes to crap in one's pants. That's why he hangs on to every little insignificant faux pas. It makes him feel good until his carer changes his incontinence pads.

Hi Misty .
Your nurse have a big night out & didn't show up to change your nappy & give you some meds.
Just immerse yourself in the memories of the good old days when there were no teams from interstate & You still had a few bodily functions working.

Up until 05 the Knights had one of the strongest squads in the competition. The only year Joey achieved any degree of success with that squad was 06 which was a second week exit.

Can certainly protect you from the wear and tear of the season.

Again, woulda, shoulda, coulda - he didn't win 5 Dally Ms.

I thought the almanac would have it covered.

To answer your questions - no and no.

Sorry - the best on debut (32 points). Still sh*ts on anything Thurston has done.

Johns 2501. Thurston 1479. Thurston a shade better than half.

Thurston is better on that score, right?

On his 01 and 05 Dally M points - if over half a season he is twice as good as any other half, that sorta indicates he was the best, right? Unless all the other halves had "wear and tear" and could not perform above 50% capacity

Joey also holds the record for 3 Dally M POTY medals. Thurston has 2, but Joey also had 5 consecutive Provan Summons medals. Meaning that Joey has

And unless its POTY I wouldnt use Dally M's as a guide. On that score, Joey even has more than Thurston as halfback of the year. Usually, a player with more points that anyone else in the same position wont be judged as the best in that position. You may as well claim that the Broncos are premiers, or that the Gold Coast is in NSW......oh wait.............

Maybe you should make yourself clearer next time. Originally you said he held the most points in a game for Australia which is completely wrong.

Regardless, what a silly way to compare players. Being a great goal kicker doesn't make you a great player.

I don't even think you know what you're on about with your last ramble.

This is true. Its one of the great myths more then a few posters on here like to perpetuate.

The fact is Johns was surrounded my some bloody good players at Newcastle.

Eion Crossan fans are coming for you ;-)

p.s. Before we have some wanting to get in to a debate about me calling him "a great goal kicker" - yes - I am drawing a long bow here. Crossan was only in the side if only because he could kick a goal.

Thanks for the welcome. You saved me a whole lot of time and money looking elsewhere for a professional opinion. Look forward to catching up with you during the season.

p.s. My wife would probably co-sign your statement.

Which I corrected. Obviously that wasnt clear enough for you

Nope, lets not compare goals when differentiating two goalkickers. The only way to compare is if I like the colour of his Origin jersey - right?

We can compare Dally M halfback of the year - in this case two is more than three. Clive Churchill medals dont count, neither do premierships, unless you are on the bench.

No wonder you couldnt interpret my last paragraph - it was based on logic.

I don't even think you know what you're on about with your last ramble.
Sorry. It was written in English and I used big words.

Yeah - Mar Tiger is a f*ckwit and a complete fruit loop for thinking Joey never ever played a game for Wests Tigers...:lol:

Blaza - post of the year!

Mar Tiger, on this site (there are a few exceptions) you will find that Storm and Broncos supporters exhibit a level of critical thinking that would not enable them to wipe their arse without detailed step-by-step instructions and three assistants.

An insight for you into how they think:

  • Breaching a salary cap is allowed, and is not cheating.
  • Bowraville is indeed in Queensland
  • Gold Coast is not in Queensland
  • Any Z grade benchie playing for the Nambour Dribblers is better than anyone from NSW - including Raper, Gasnier, Messenger, Irvine, Liubinskas or Johns
  • A Dally M Medal only counts if the winner was born between Coolangatta and Rockhampton.
  • 6 fingers is perfectly normal - if you only have 5 your parents must not be related, which is a sin. How the f*ck can you play a banjo properly without 6 fingers?
  • The odd Souffs supporter sprouts rubbish, and probably dont have any teeth - yet are Rhodes Scholars compared to most Storm and broncos supporters.
Bear that in mind, and you'll be fine :)

Your logic = Johns scored the second most amount of points so that makes him the best player of all time.

So by your logic, Hazem El Masri > everyone.

Those other achievements would be far more relevant than that record.

So by your logic Jason Lowrie is the best player ever because he scored 2 tries in a 160 game career?

How many origins and tests did Hasem play in?

BTW, how the f*ck is quoting Dally M award facts suddenly lying you stupid putz?

The only thing you abide by is if the player is supported by chicks who piss in their seats at the footy, they must be the best ever. Career points, premierships, rep careers, medals, awards and being an immortal in the team of the century are irellevent.:lol:
