Josh Dugan > Jarryd Hayne

Alot of talented youngsters suffer from that "Second Year Syndrome", well not Dugan. The kid is building and building confidence and looks more at home in first grade after each game. I actually doubt he will crumble but cement his position as one of the NRL's premier players.

Dugan is a far better defender then Hayne, Dugan's positional play in defence is only 2nd to Billy Slater in the NRL.

Dugan is also far more dangerous in general play. You don't see Hayne making breaks in the centre of the field too much at least this season. You'd almost be sure that you see Dugan make a long run or a break every match or two. There is very little in his game at the moment you can fault.

Hayne reminds me of John Sutton, to the point where he is having an extremely hot and cold season, Hayne can be masterful but at times he is rubbish and has very limited impact on a game and when he doesn't play well, his defensive flaws come out of the closet, Hayne is probably one of the worst positonal players in defence in the competition and his tackling lacks something to be desired also.

I can barely fault Josh Dugan's game atm. Dugan's positional play is only 2nd to Slater and his defence is veteran like. I believe generally Dugan is also far more dangerous in general play and more agile, Dugan leads the tackle breaks in the NRL out of any player.

Jarryd Hayne's career has been patchy to say the least, and 2010 takes it to another rollercoaster ride.

Josh Dugan had a sublime rookie season which should of landed him Rookie of the Year, So many talented youngsters fail in their 2nd season of nrl, known as the dreaded "Second Year Syndrome", well None of that for Josh and in fact i can see Dugan building in confidence after every match he plays and I can't see his progression take a turn towards the negative, he is only gunna get stronger and faster and become one of the premier players in the NRL.

While you never know what you are going to get from Hayne's growth curve from his 2006 debut season to present.

That post reads like a cut and paste effort from another thread. Hayne was outstanding last night. Dugan would not look out of place in a Blues jersey. But Hayne was easily NSW's best attacking weapon last night and easily proved he has to be there.

Sound like you're being a bit of a troll here hatrick. Would you like me to call Nathan Merritt by a rascist term just so you can pull something else out of the bag?

How typical NSW. Instead of celebrating the fact we have one bloody good fullback (who's only 22) and 3 more very exciting youngsters coming through, we get into a sh*t fight about which one is better, usually by implying the others are sh*t.

I don't think NSW will ever pick Dugan. He cemented his non-selection last year when he played against the Broncos. Only a kid and put his whole body on the line when freight train Dave Taylor came steaming down.

Bravery & courage does not make a successful Rugby League team.

Hayne on the other hand has done countless dives to ensure he cements his place as the weasel he is.

hayne is far superior to dugan.
Just look at dugan's last club match. very average.

Dugan has a future.. no doubt. But he is rightfully behind hayne. Hayne is rightfully behind Slater.

Hayne is not a traditional fullback. Personally I couldn't give a flying f**k how good is attack is, he is poor defensively and positionally - a fullbacks most important attributes. He was good the other night but his attack is generally overrated, and he is still trying to ride on the coat tails of last year.

He should be either be on the wing (where he has excelled) or maybe the centres. Dugan is the future at fullback for NSW, he is only going to get better

:lol: Something's hit a nerve. I didn't realise saying one player is better than another is 'hating'. You're an uptight merkin aren't you.

I hope Hayne enjoyed his two games as fullback. They will be his last in the NSW Blues... he wasnt bad, in fact he was very good, he is very good actually.
But simply Dugan is better, and even if you dont think so now, because even i freely admit its a tightly run thing... by game one next year, there wont be any doubt what so ever. Dugan is a stud, he's only going to get better and better and weather he's doing it from Canberra in a sh*te team, or Sydney in a good one, he'll be the Blues #1 for most of his career

The only thing I can fault Dugan for is his upper body strength. He gets himself in a position to hold a bloke out all the time, but every now and then just doesn't have the strength to hold on.

Apart from that, he's defensively close to the best fullback in the game, and his attacking game is really starting to build nicely.

I don't think anyone hates Hayne, I certainly don't. He's just simply not as good at playing fullback as Dugan. The only "fanbois" are of Hayne, which was created due all of his media hype last year.

His place is on the wing, where he has performed strongly throughout his career
