Josh Dugan > Jarryd Hayne

hayne is far superior to dugan.
Just look at dugan's last club match. very average.

Dugan has a future.. no doubt. But he is rightfully behind hayne. Hayne is rightfully behind Slater.

He had a "very average" game but still made a 90 odd metre break which resulted in a try the next play.

as much as i like and would like to see Uate in Origin, i personally think he can do more for the game continuing playing for his native Fiji.

And Jarryd Hayne could do more for the game playing for Fiji, just like Petero Civoniceva could.

Doesn't mean anything.

Just so we are aware Hayne can proudly say he has been part of the past 4 losing NSW sides.

Hayne is crap, crap player and crap attitude. Dugan is the type of young kid you want in your team, he will listen to senior players and act on their command. Hayne thinks he runs the place and can do whatever he wants. Does anyone still remember Lockyer having to pull that wanker into line when playing the Kiwis earlier this year. With Dugan you don't get that and at the same time you get a very very good fullback.

But that said I'm happy if NSW keep picking Hayne at no.1

2011 and 6 series in a row.

agreed but lets not repeat the mistakes of the past
if the ARL clear him to play SOO and Fiji, im happy for him to do so, but i think if he cant continue to rep his native Fiji he shouldnt play

Hardly fair. It's his choice really. It's not like Fiji have a side representative side strong enough for him to turn his back on the possibility to get a Blues jersey and a Kangaroo jumper if that's what he desires. It's not as clear cut these days. Players have mixed heritage and don't just feel passion to just one country if they consider more than one country home. Players like Hayne and Civo probably feel just as much Fijiaan as they do Australian and why not.

It's a tough one. Hayne is an awesome footballer, he's not a traditional fullback at all, but when he plays on the wing he struggles to get involved at all and was caught out quite a lot in the first game. At fullback he often looks lazy when compared to Dugan, Coote and especially Slater, who is everywhere. I'm always a bit loathe to copy something Gus says, but I will this time, when he said that Hayne is not a player to bring the best out of the players around him. Most things Hayne does on the footy field he does by himself, chip and chase etc, while the benchmark fullback Slater is constantly running off other players, chasing other players kicks, and basically just involving himself as much as possible. By doing this, Slater takes attention of other players which enables them to pull off big plays. This is what NSW needs, not a fullback who occasionally can pull out a big play by himself.

Hayne's a bit of an enigma at the moment, his style of play isn't really fitting in with Parra, NSW or the Kangaroos at the moment, but he's still one of the best players in the competition - NSW are gonna have to work out how to get the best out of him.

I see Dugan as a better long term prospect than Hayne, but there is no need to rush him into the squad. His form has been impressive no doubt, but he needs more games to polish his game up before he can be the NSW fullback. Jarryd is one of the few players in the current squad who is in double digits for Origin appearances, and has done more than enough to deserve to hold on to his position, at least for one more series.

Rushing an underdone Dugan into the team at the expense of a proven performer in Jarryd Hayne contradicts everything we need to be doing if we ever want to stand a chance of competing with Queensland.
