I posted this in another thread but i'll post it here where it's a little more relevant.

In relation to this Telegraph article.. If this talk about the club targeting a rival fullback is true the only player that makes sense is Tedesco.

Now Dufty still has an opportunity to prove himself this year, I truly believe he has what it takes and if he succeeds then all this rival fullback talk is pointless.
However, IF (and please understand me when I say IF) someone like Tedesco is in the frame, then the club needs to throw everything they have at him. Tedesco is a once in a generation player, he is the kind of player than could single handedly win you a game and he will undoubtedly be the NSW fullback for years to come.
It makes me a little bit sick to my stomach to say that because Dufty has put so much hard work in, but Tedesco is just in a league of his own and if he is willing to open himself to negotiations, the club should offer him a contract he can't refuse.

But again as I said, if Dufty proves himself all this talk is pointless. And don't get me wrong I WANT him to succeed. But this is James Tedesco we're talking about.

Doubt teddy will leave tigers... Dufty will get his chance over origin but Dragons track record of blooding juniors is dismal imho

So do I, but you have to remember, Teddy has opened himself up to contract negotiations before. He WAS a Raider, he was signed and basically sealed until he backflipped (which I hope doesn't happen again).

The Tigers offer is reportedly around the 900k a season mark. We could offer him at least 100k more than that and you know what, he is 100% worth it. Tedesco is doing things that Hayne was doing around his age.

If Dufty said that he is a jerk and you shouldnt be repeating it, let alone asking not to be quoted
No good can possibly come from such posts.
Maybe Dufty has a touch of young Hastings about him I sincerely hope not.
Not prone to jumping to conclusions about Dufty?

according to the article "It is believed the Dragons have a rival No. 1 in their sights but right now they are playing their cards close to their chest."
This is rubbish. Yes tedesco is available.
But the main aim for the club atm is either keep Dugan or promote Dufty.
Why would the club extend Duftys contract only to look elsewhere for a fullback?
Tedesco will stay at the tigers, thats almost gaurenteed.
No other fullback thats available is worth replacing dugan with.
Id love for us to somehow keep dugan for 3 more years on the same money he is on now.
Dugan, Hunt, and McInnes in the spine works fine for me.
Field, Mann, or Widdop will excel in a spine like that.
Milne, Aitken, Macdonald, will also excel from a spine like that.
Dugan has developed a nice passing game. Not quiet in the darius boyd/tedesco mould but he can pass...
And the way he chimes in, he will have defences in 2 minds all the time.
If he runs they better be ready, and if there ready for him to run but he passes... then... well... "the dragons are in" as ray warren would put it.
Dugan, if he keeps this form up, should be our next priority signing.

My post said "maybe" and was only predicated on the basis of the post by Ace - STI, so no I am not jumping to any conclusion just merely raising a point.
If what the poster said is true, since when is it the apprentices place to discuss the tradesman's remuneration in an open forum and if that is so IMO it is arrogant and was widely reported as part of the issue that Hastings had thus my comment?

I had another convo after the panthers game last year in the gong at the novotel I think it was about another thing which was pressing at the time which I'm glad I didn't post now if you want to know PM me as I don't want "rock the apple cart"

Please read one of the first things I said.
"IF (and please understand me when I say IF) someone like Tedesco is in the frame".
I have no idea if Tedesco is in the frame, i'm only connecting the dots. No other quality fullback is off contract at the end of this year.
Besides, Tedesco will want as much money as he could get. It's only natural to test the market a little bit.

As I said Samy my comment was only predicated on the other post.
Hopefully it was all a big misunderstanding and taken out of context.
Or if there is any truth in it, somebody who reads the forum and knows the kid just has a fatherly word in his ear.

I posted as I heard it no difference to you saying apparently Dugan wants big $$$ he could be reading the papers the day before! Poor judgement maybe but he's not saying anything we don't know...

Believe what ever you want and what makes you sleep at night!

Dugan is clearly the clubs best fullback and I would like to see him stay and continue as our fullback . As has been said with our new hooker and a half coming next year who plays very direct he could be a real ace as a big running fullback . He is without peer as a defensive fullback which is 50% of the game ( Penrith could have done with him yesterday as Moylan was a mere speed bump ) . And when you actual watch him play he is first class at organising from the back , safe as a bank , and may not have the big " C " next to his name but is very much the leader of the team both verbally and by his actions .

Watching him yesterday wasn't a case of him finding form but a case of the shackles of having to carry the team like he has done for the last 2 years being removed . Personally I don't think what he brings to our team can be replaced by anyone . The club just needs to sit down and get the deal done .

No doubt you are a good fellow and not trying to cause trouble.
We all know according to the papers that Duges wants big $$$$ but having a team mate commenting on that, at a post game function and then being outed for his comments on social media is not the correct thing to do.

Speaking of Dufty, I like him but he needs more time just to get used to playing at the level required for the Illawarra team based on Saturday's performance.

I am hoping a couple of hundred thousand dollars extra a season would entice Teddy to leave the Tigers and come and play for us. I love the idea of Tedesco wearing the St George jersey.
As a RL footballer, I think the world of Duges. I really hope he can be re-signed. If not for Duges over the past few years SGI would have been painfully bad. Having said that, from the standpoint of someone who places the success of the team above any individual, I would cut Duges in order to sign Tedesco without any hesitation at all. And surely if this story is true, it must be Tedesco because what fullback is off contract and better than Duges except Tedesco?

The sharks made very astute purchases. They didn't appear to pay overs for any of their players like we are doing with Hunt.

Ennis was a swap for Lichaa, Barba was on the outer with Bennet and Bird, well he's on normal money as far as I remember at the time after an upgrade from leaving us. Maloney was on the outer at the Roosters as they were going after younger talent and Townsend was on normal money as well.

Combine that with a strong squad of Gallen, Fafita, Graham, Lewis and Prior in the forwards, some backs that stepped up like Holmes and experienced bench players and you have the Sharks recipe for premiership in 2016.

One or two good buys for next year and some players stepping up and we can be on the same road to success I think.

And people couldn't wait to get rid of Prior from our club, as it stands he is a two time premiership winner. Amazing if you ask me.
