What we need is more Friday night games tbh

Agreed. Relegate the Donkeys to the QLD Cup and put them on every Friday night in Queensland. They might even be good enough to make the finals in the QLD Cup.

Sadly, there are no pictures of the Broncos trophy cabinet available on the internet so all these butthurt people escape with their dignity, it seems.

Apart from the seemingly bottomless pit of cash, the current Broncos outfit bears no resemblance to the Broncos that won all those premierships.

Eventually you're going to have to face facts, Uncle Benny and Alf and Locky aren't coming back.

Contracts are the same as always. It's society in general that doesn't like being committed to a deal, not just the modern day footy player. If you're not sure how it works, ask one of your divorced friends. Or anyone that has had their phone cut off. Today's society buy 30 day mobile phone credit because they can't commit to a 12 month plan. The idea that people today quickly lose interest, lack commitment and are hard to satisfy is not solely the realm of footy players. Or even their coaches, who also often see reason to leave a club before their contract is up.

The problem clubs have is that there is no point having a disgruntled player or coach on the books, and nothing to gain by playing hardball with them. If a guy like Milford or Hoffman wants to leave, you can't physically restrain him and force him to play for you - it's footy, not slavery. Ditto Fergo or Dugan or Hannant or Hock.
And if you take him to court then every other player in the comp knows that your club won't bend over backwards for them - not a great way to impress Gen Y.
Today's footballer has been a pro since he was 15 and had clubs jumping over each other to get his signature. He didn't just choose a TAFE course and get a job - he was hand picked. WTF do people expect a bloke like Hoffman to do when his club quite openly looks to move him from his preferred role? Like many other players, he has a hissy fit and pushes the "too hard" button.

With a player like Hoffman you have two choices - make him happy here or f**k him off. Often it's the same thing. Hoffman wants to play FB and won't. Cut him. Same deal with anyone who is homesick or doesn't like the coach.

Talking about clauses is interesting because it goes both ways. Talented players like Foran get a clause in their contract saying they can leave when the coach does. Borderline players have clauses relating to skin folds and alcohol testing.

More hide than an elephant.
The Broncos are frankly a morally bankrupt club. Long may their spectacular demise continue

It's always fun to see a fan call a club finishing higher on the ladder than theirs a "spectacular demise"

2 questions...

When was the last time you genuinely competed for a premiership?
How long has it been since have gone this long without being genuine contenders?

Bury your head in the sand all you like, the simple fact is the Broncos have been a powerhouse, winning or at least competing for premierships for almost their entire existence, it's been an easy life as a Broncos fans...

But you're finding out what it's like living on the other side of the tracks and you do not like it one bit... hot tip though, get used to it, the Broncos monopoly on QLD talent is WELL AND TRULY over, and thus, so is the Broncos time as year in, year out contenders... your side is heading back towards everyone else, where you'll suck for years at a time, and be good at others, instead of always being good.

The cherished life is over.
Demise? Yeah i think that's the right word in this context.

Broncos won in 06, were contenders right up until Lockyer retired in 2011. As for the Raiders, 94 was the last premiership and haven't really done squat since a 4th in 2003 and 2000, so how badly has the power house that was the Raiders late 80's and early 90's fallen in your eyes, our are you about to lay out the excuses?

2011 is a huge stretch, they got handled by the first contender they saw... but ill pay it because they were producing off a time of dominance, the last hurrah of a legend of the game

He's gone now and there doesnt appear to be another coming through... well not one the Broncos developed, just guys they induce to break contracts... you cant and wont get them all that way even if you get Milford/Barba, it's just delaying the inevitable, and frankly im not convinced those two even does that, i dont think they blend well as players, too similar, will result in freakish games where they both click and your unbeatable, followed by a spate of games like the ones Tigers fans w/Marshall have gotten used too, but i digress...

No one is arguing the Raiders didnt suffer a demise, they did, the results are there to see, it coincided with the Broncos general rise because we got a lot of talent out of QLD that the Broncos then monopolised... that is no longer the case fro the Broncos

The Broncos demise has absolutely nothing to do with the Canberra Raiders, the fact you want to make this a like for like case, tells me the rot is already begging to set in with Broncos fans... Can you imagine 6 years ago Broncos fans actively trying to compare themselves with year get in, year miss out top 8 team?

Its happening Kiwi, every club has a finger in the QLD talent pie, and your just not getting the quantity of quality you use to... And the return back to the pack has already well began.
